Yo the fit while working the barricade is 🔥🔥🔥 What knee pads would you recommend these days? I was lucky enough to score some Leafs before Arc'teryx went on their gubermint-only sales BS, but I don't have a strong recommendations for others because the Leafs are so good.

Honestly, if you can get internal knee pads, that's the way I would go. But for external knee pads I still recommend the Arc'Teryx knee caps. Bit of a graveyard post here, but i am a big fan of Troy Lee Designs lighter mountain biking pads- they are nice and flexible, pretty breathable, and unlike many other knee sleeves, tend to stay oriented on the joint even on skinnier legs. I wear them as a daily for being a mechanic and rough carpentry. They take impact very well- abrasion is kind of a case by case thing.

I've used VTAC barricades before I've ever attended a Brutality match, but yes, generally, these will be useful for a lot of folks doing things like two-gun competitions too.

The in between ports are the most annoying. The monthly practical rifle match near me always has a 100 or 200 yard stage using the vtac which is usually the most difficult for people

I would love to have the resources to set up my own outdoor range (or use an outdoor range that wasn't limited to "targets at (specified distance) from a table." I would also love to have the agility I had twenty years ago. Most of my training is a function of NOT having either of those, though, since getting down to lower positions is easy enough (gravity works, even if the resulting position isn't ideal), but getting back up is not so easy. Could I still benefit from working with a VTAC barricade? Probably. My self-defense exercises so far have been focused on my own realities, including "get the heck away from a shooter" and "help others get away from a shooter," and awareness that if someone already has a firearm in their hand, I'm NOT going to "Quick-Draw McGraw" my way into stopping that threat.

I just found out that one of my favorite guntubers is a trans woman! I'm so excited, I've been trying to find more and better ways to teach my girlfriend more about the shooting and defensive tactics world. She's part of the queer community herself, and what better way to introduce her to this world than with such a great resource such as yourself? She used to be somewhat anti-gun herself when she was a bit younger, but I've been working on getting her accustomed to firearms for self defense and protection; she's barely over five feet tall, and I want to rest easy knowing that she can take care of herself properly even when I'm not around. Q: In traditional hunting one is taught not to put the barrel on a hard object as it throws off aim. It is said it is better to brace your arm against the surface rather than your gun. Does this tend to hold true with semi-autos? Btw, no cans in Canada so we can't rest those on the barricade either.

Good question! Barrel deflection is real, and yes, if you apply significant pressure against a surface with your barrel, that will happen. It's best to put your handguard on the surface if you can, but otherwise, just brace as gently as you can, keeping in mind just how much barrel deflection is going to be acceptable for whatever range/precision you are shooting for.

VTAC is also a good tool for training weak hand shooting. Anyone desiring proficiency in tactical shooting should spend quality time shooting from the weak hand. Sometimes it’s the only way to make a shot.

The story was that extending your barrel beyond cover or concealment would get your RPGed in urban settings where RPGs are common. Usually in X seconds. And I don't doubt there's some truth in that.

I've noticed a lot of training changes and I'm not even sure how much is specific to military and police. The one I notice the most is the change from tilting around corners in the old thunder ranch videos to leaning quickly around corners squared up, which I;m guessing is better if the person is wearing a lot of body armor @@pearsestokes
