For me it's not the question of balls, lots of people have them. What stunned me is sky high level of confidence, an absolute dead calmness that he had that day and that he was able to do his routine not 20 meters above the ground but 400 m. Petit didn't just walk the wire he also did kneeling and laying down. It's also amazing how he was able to conquer weather conditions, I thought wind would have been bigger problem that high up. While watching a movie I remembered several times of 9/11 jumpers. The views Petit had that day in August 1974 was the same as they had 27 years later in most unfortunate circumstances. I'm not afraid of heights (I go to mountains often), but during that Walk scene I felt like butterflies in my stomach are going absolutely insane. Probably best stunt performance of all times.

We all know the difference, thank you. But it seems you are trying to justify this films existence by saying that Man on Wire was just a documentary, when in fact it was more of a detailed look at the man then just documenting events. So not only a documentary, but very much a biography and a thriller. All in one and no need for this film to exist. But yes, we get it. Man on Wire = Documentary. The Walk = Biography.

***** I'd think it more apt to say "drama" than "biography" if you're trying to dichotomize them; both are 'biographical', after all. Although arguably I suspect "The Walk" will be more Petit-centered than "Man on Wire." At any rate, though, its slick SFX, JGL as lead, and a good script will give the real-life wire artist (and his crew) greater exposure than "Man on Wire" could ever have done, even with its Oscar.

Being in NY this trailer made me puzzled and emotional with the first scene of WTC. With 3D it looks so real and as if it still existed. Nonetheless to say my mind also goes to the people who'd be packed in the buildings busying themselves with work in the ordinary days. I probably feel such strong emotions especially because I visited the new 9/11 museum lately... If I would, I'd like to watch the movie not just because of this man's historic achievement but just to feel back the time (though I wasn't living in there) when the twin towers ostentatiously occupied the City sky and people having normal lives with them.

When I saw this trailer in IMAX. The whole theater chattered... Made noises. The 3d IMAX is really chilling. I heard how my friends girlfriend was having anxiety cause of the effects. Can't wait to see it.

This documentary has already been done by the actual people involved. In fact it was the very first movie I watched when I signed up for netflix years back. It was a great story. This movie is selling the nostalgia of the old world trade center, nothing more. I'm betting this version is embellished big time, but the story is still fascinating and yes it will be nice to revist the old world trade center in a way we have never seen before, even thought its all CGI. But I will still wait for it on netflix

Rami Mikati Sounds like a pretty good French accent. Any French people care to give their opinion on it's accuracy?
@ophelia95659 жыл бұрын
Radley Atticus I would say it's pretty good. It's obviously the accent of a French person whose English is good. Not great but not terrible either.I think he nailed it.

Okay, who else went or wants to see this film just for the WTC/Twin Towers? Even though Petit's tight rope walk intrigued me, I saw this film earlier today just so I could see the Twin Towers on the big screen again. Furthermore, I was blown away by how stunning these buildings looked despite knowing that it was done using digital imagery. The ending of the film was also very emotional, yet great at the same time.

xzenecaryan Then again, Jet fuel alone didn't crash the WTC. So, there is shearing of significant units in the structure upon impact - where in itself was hollow in the middle (elevators). Factor in the load of the jetliner. That is Structural Analysis 101.

I am glad this movie was made because that way we can never forget a man crossing on the high wire and two a great legacy for the world trade center and Robert Zemeckis still a great director.

Upon watching these trailers I've come to realise what a poignant movie this is. I know it really happened when I was a teenager but to watch it expresses two things: what Philippe did was an incredible feat which paid homage to the twin towers but what the terrorists did was incomprehensible, not just to the buildings but to the hardworking Americans on that tragic day. I loved this movie as it brought the towers back to life with special wonderful affects & we got to see them again in all their true glory in 3D too if you were lucky enough to see it thanks to Philippe's amazing stunt but also sad to realise they are now gone because of a cruel act that the world will never forget.
