I love Rick's leadership style in season 5. He goes all in on his decisions and is pure no nonsense, but the moment his people oppose his ideas he just listens and accept what the majority says. Shows that his all about his peeps and what they want, not what he wants.

It’s like he's finally letting himself be happy again. I will die on the hill that Andrew Lincoln deserved an award for this show.

In this episode I feel like Rick is the music box from the last episode. He is broken and wore down but at the end the laughter from the children makes his cogwheels turn again.

With everything our group has been through, I like that Rick is being so cautious. I also like that Rick listened to his group and went to check out this place. When Rick hears the sounds of children playing, the relief on his face is beautiful. Daniel, I'm so looking forward to your reactions to future episodes of this amazing series.

Rick's position in the group is perfect because while it seems like he is the leader and makes some decisions for group, he is very openminded to everyone else's opinions and the entire group's say is almost always taken into account whenever they make important choices.

WRT this new place: Isn't making it better trying to change it? On the front of decision making and leadership: Prior to this, Michonne pushed Rick to risk the trip to go to Washington and they nearly all died! Prior to that, Rick overruled the group and upheld Beth's wish to get Noah home - and Tyrese died. Prior to that, Rick wanted to storm the hospital but Daryl led the rebellion to negotiate with hostages - and Beth died. Prior to that, Rick wanted to finish off the Termites but the consensus, led by Maggie?, was to leave them be and let the walkers and conflagration finish them off - and Bob had his leg eaten... well, you get the idea. Making choices is tough - and this show does not shy away from playing that out with all its grisly consequences. I think the one thing you can be sure of is that from hereon out, everything will be just fine!

Ugghhh… consequences such 😪… I’m glad it feels we have some temporary relief from the weight of this world and it’s brutal punches. I feel sharing the weight of group decisions is definitely key to keeping each and every one of us sane, and together.

A very big flaw in humanity is that we tend to see situations as “either-or”. You said you want to follow how Michonne and Maggie are thinking, but also how Rick is. It doesn’t have to be either or. None of it. Not a single situation in this entire show. You can be a hardass like Rick and keep your group safe while still going to check the place out AND making sure Aaron feels him and his people are safe. It’s just that when you’re in survival mode, all you see if yourself and your loved ones. So that delicate balance (which IS possible) is often overlooked.
