A new frontier is a season that was heavily effected by behind the scenes management. Constant rewrites and tons of cut content meant that the season wasnt that well plotted out. The studio was basically crunching 24/7 getting the episodes out You know how clementine has had flashbacks throughout the season? We were meant to get one for her in episode 5, but it got cut very late in development. It would’ve showed off her first day in the zombie apocalypse, and the death of Sandra. This game could’ve been so good, had they got the time to make it the best it could be

Isn't that what happened to season 2 as well? It's not the first time they've done this. Season 2 just managed somehow to be commercially successful, when this game flopped hard. Both games have been affected by rewrites, dumb decisions made by Telltale Management, and both were rushed. Remember that when season 2 only was coming out, we had a different episode select music, that was later replaced by some different tracks, we had different panoramas and in the case of the PS3 version, even the option to shoot Mike? These two games are basically the same in terms of quality and the stuff behind the scenes, but one managed to be somewhat successful, and the other didn't.

S4 is a lot of people’s favorite because of how solid and polished it is, and s1 is ofc the fan favorite for the themes and vibes. Season 3 didn’t really do a “thing” well enough to make it make a deep impression.

It does make me feel dreadful, knowing what we could've had and what potential this game had to be just as good as the predecessor or even surpass it in terms of quality. None of these two things that I mentioned happened. The only game that has those two things is season 4, but even then I don't know if I like it more than season 1 (the game is still a masterpiece tho. A great finale to the whole series and it was enjoyable from the start to the end). It was so refreshing going from season 2 to season 4 (I skipped season 3 of my playthrough of this whole series)

This is what's mainly wrong with modern video games. Development studios think that a group of coders/artists/writers/developers/etc can get done with a game in 2 years that really takes 3 or 4 years. This never used to be a problem until around the past decade in video games, where people try to push stuff out as fast as possible, without the thought of a finished product or complete one.

That under his command he unknowingly killed his own kid and hurt his wife. An seen's Jesus is involve and explained that he found out New Frontier has raided not only other towns but also The Kingdom. Which would prompt Jesus to say do to David's actions this can be used as a cause for war. An that The Kingdom will call on its allies name dropping Alexandria and Hilltop Colony joining if this escalates. Even telling Javier how this alliance had just recently took down the Saviors sometime back.

I definitely FEEL that but I am of two minds about it. 1 it's kind of something that happens in Walking Dead doesn't it? Not everyone gets the 'good ending' or even the 'blaze of glory' or 'tragic death' ending. Sometimes the ending is abrupt and feels.....unfair? The story arc left feeling......unfullfilled? Kind of like what happened to Christa at the beginning of season 2. We never really know what happened to her......we never see her again... 2. I can see that they wanted to incorporate all endings of season 2 but having a whole additional character to voice and model for scenes that would have been optional, and ultimately not going to be planned around for the season, I can see why they just had to kind of abruptly wrap up their stories. it's a unfortunate thing to happen in these kind of games where choices carry over. I am one of the people who chose to Kill Kenny and then Leave Jane. While it does end with Clementine alone at the end of Season 2, I think it was the best way to kind of wrap up both of their stories at that point. Kenny is too haunted by the deaths that have plagued his life and unable to let go of his violent tendencies that have developed as a result of the cruelties the world had inflicted upon him, to the point where he thanks Clementine for doing so. Jane, the perpetual loner, blames her loner status on other people failing her, but ends up tricking Kenny into attempting to kill her to.........prove a point to Clementine? Kind of shows that maybe SHE's the problem, or that as a result of other 'failing' her she has not BCOME the problem. Those to me do come off as better endings then the ones we got in New Frontier, admittedly.

@@Wavedashnoir it is not how they're marketed. before we pull out the "the story is tailored to how you play", that is quite literally their way of telling the player not to expect an interactive storytelling experience. the player is supposed to think of the game as a suit. you're changing different characteristics such as sizing/fit for comfortability. you're never changing the actual suit. many people also forget that telltales TWD is still apart of TWD comic universe. of course they would have to accommodate for this... Shawn's death in the first game is a perfect example, he dies no matter what because it's a key plot point that comes up for Herschel in the comics.

So I'm going to disagree with Jane's reaction being extreme. I actually think it's perfectly in character for her because. A ) Jane realizes that taking care of two babies is going to make their situation very difficult. B ) Jane saw how Rebecca died after labor and there's not even a safe way for her to abort the baby. C ) We all know how Jane feels about dead weight and she probably still blames herself heavily for how her sister ended up and she doesn't want to be the reason why Clementine may end up dead. If Jane dies, Clementine is stuck in an impossible situation caring for two babies all by herself. There's no guarantee that she will be able to survive the birth, and there's no guarantee she'll survive the recovery of the birth so in her head, she's saving Clementine the trouble.

Gabe is a pain in the ass who never learns his lesson always a thorn in your side 6. David is a even bigger pain constantly shovong expectations on Havi while he himself fails at doing them a big fat hypocrite 7. Mariana is killed pointlessly when it hinted at she had development 8. most of your decisions don't matter e.g. save Tripp or Ava both die regardless 9. Jesus didn't have enough screentime 10. whether you cheat with Kate or not David doesn't believe you and attacks you regardless it's stupid as bad as season 3 is season 4 is a god send that went through production hell you will love the 4th season a fantastic season that ends the story beautifully.

Actually season 3 was my favorite. The main contrast I saw was that the characters were related by blood and had a strong bond before the outbreak compared to the other seasons. There were exceptions, David had resentments and clem was an outsider. But it showed the difference of what a mostly healthy family could endure. Many of the interactions were more stable, and if you tried you could have a decent ending compared to other seasons where no matter how hard you tried things always went to shit

When I was watching another KZbinr play TWD series I actually accidentally skipped his playthrough of A New Frontier and only missed TIDBITS of information which barely had any bigger impact on the main story. It is kind of understandable cause it is a side story after all but that becomes a bit trickier when there’s a key character’s (Clementine) bits of development embedded within the story. Then when I did get round to watching the playthrough of this it felt so flat in comparison to the other games that follow the main story, it had a lot of potential but I feel like it just didn’t work and that made me sad cause I really enjoyed Javi as a character.

Honestly s4 is pretty overrated I never felt that much of a connection with the s4 cast they were all pretty annoying and sort of unlikable to me expect Marlon and Tenn I never liked Violet or Louis which I know a lot of people liked. Louis felt kinda of annoying at times, I didn’t like the teenage cast at all and how they tried to push relationships for Clementine, Since s3 Clementine always have been hardened and showing no interest in romantic relationship. I understand her having some sort of feelings for Gabe but having Clementine choose to date Louis or Violet in ep2 was way to early for my liking since I didn’t feel that much connection to the characters. I know you can prefer not to date them but I always had a problem with the fact that we even had a dating option with those to. I had more connections with the s3 characters for some reason even though s3 was sort of a mess. Other than that I felt s4 was alright there wasn’t that much that happened in that season expect for ep 3 and ep 4 Clem getting bit also felt a bit forced. I understand that telltale wasn’t working on the game on that time because they went bankrupt so skybound had to try they’re best to finish it, overall for me 1. S1 2. S3 3.S2 4.S4

Nah I gotta disagree. S3 is by far the worst in my eyes. I'd rank them 1>2>=4>3>michonne>400 days. S3 has the worst plot, characters, dialogue, themes out of the main 4. Choice do matter most in S3 however but the story itself is far worse.

lol I hated Kate in this season. Maybe it’s just me but regardless of how much an asshole David is I could never go steal my brothers wife especially when it’s clear that’s her motive the whole game even AFTER learning he’s alive. Seems I’m in the minority on that decision lol

This was a terrible game. I had no interest in Javier, how he’s the prodigal son who has an addiction to gambling which makes a riff between him and his family (especially his brother David). I didn’t really care that possibly javier and Kate can be together which can cause issues with David at the beginning and end of the season. I was looking forward to Clem’s intro and was only into the game because of her growth since the 2nd game. We’ve had 2 really dynamic and complex groups for the last 2 games but man, this 3rd game doesn’t do a good job of making me love this so called family that survive literal The Walking Dead. The villains in Richmond are like villains from a pantomime -they are not serious and not complex with no character development especially Joan. The other side characters like the guy with the man bun and Conrad or Javi’s nephew are really simple and 1 dimensional compared to the hot headed but caring Kenny and Jane. I was disappointed with the whole game. When season 4 came, I still didn’t have the same connection to the boarding school characters. And Aj… man I wish his parents never died 🤣
