The cinematography for this episode is gorgeous. The brawl with the nuns was...kinda hilarious but Daryl's presence, his personality is the most compelling aspect of episode one. I'm hooked on that.

Good start. Great theme song/intro. Excited to see the rest of the season. The lady at the end gave me huge CRM vibes. Especially when she mentioned walkers were test subjects. I can't wait to see Rick again. Dead City and this show have made me believe that it's gonna be the best spinoff by far. Andy and Danai?? So good.

One thing I liked about the weapons is that no-one used a sword. Swords were back-up weapons in case you lost your spear, mace or hammer.

That is true but I want to add something They’re not fighting living peoples here, they are fighting undead, undying zombie. Only damage to the brain stem will kill them, but cutting off limbs or an head will neutralize them or at least make them far less dangerous Under these conditions, using a sword might be smart. A combination of thrusting power to go through the brain stem, and cutting edge to cut off limbs and necks. A properlt sharpened sword will do that no problem, since walkers aren’t wearing armour in the overwhelming majority of cases

Hey guys. I love Daryl Dixon too I feel in love with his character from day 1. This show seems like a solid show for real. This show was actually filmed on location. Like the woman who plays the main none that Daryl talks to most of the time she played on harry-potter-and-the-goblet-of-fire that's probably where you know her from.

The nun reminds me of Hild from The Last Kingdom. As far as the gas for vehicles, I'd guess that when the end came, there was still a lot of gas in gas stations and left in vehicles that were abandoned. They just don't show all boring work of siphoning the gas etc.

Really good opener. They set a premise, no matter what is up with the kid (I expect his mom is not dead), it's basically an attunement quest for him to get to the main thing, the port. Also, Mr. Tattooface and his crew are working for the lady at the end, at The Harbor. They mentioned her name during the exchange with the girl and the old dude, who they kill.

Just like House Of The Dragon with the sister saying prophetic things, it seems like Laurent is doing the same. Not only did he say word for word what Judith said to Daryl, he also says things like "We will meet again" while the camera ominously focuses on him. I came into the show thinking he would be like Ellie, a cure somehow and that's why he's so special. But it seems like he may have some type of, idk, clairvoyance about him.

As far as gun info. Yes, the old flintlocks and matchlocks are pretty indestructible. 100,200,300 year old rifles from museums and old armories can be in fully functional condition. Finding gun powder isn't terribly hard. Even making it only requires charcoal, sulfur, salt peter,and an alchohol base to slowly heat and combine them in. After the mixture air cools, making sure your static free the cake of black combustion material can be gently (GENTLY) crushed into the earliest form of black gun powder.

The Burners are a totally new type of walker, not seen in any other show. There are radioactive walkers in Fear, but those were directly affected by nuclear radiation from either a melting down power plant or bombs. Those walkers' blood aren't acidic, but getting some on you or engaging with them too closely can cause spread of radiation.

OK BUT HEAR ME OUT. As a french, I was amazed by the effort they put into the guns. Guns aren't really popular in France, and it makes perfect sense that a lot of the guns we see are like old WW1 rifles, becaude they are some of the only ones you can own without declaring it to the government. So, when a zombie apocalypse happens, it's most likely for the average french people to have "grandpa's old gun from the war" than some full auto stuff.
