I think this was a great end to the first season. The CDC was the last glimpse of the old world and it gets destroyed marking the end of civilization as we know it. It's basically telling the audience the world will never go back to the way it was.

1:13 I love Jenner's rant here, it's chilling cause he's basically saying that the CDC could protect humanity from almost any disease, and if they couldn't keep them safe from the walker virus, it's arrival likely marks the end of days for humans. Jenner made it his dying mission to find a way to stop the virus, and to see this man now so passionately convinced that there's no stopping it is frightening. This finale totally set the tone for the series: no hope, no chance at civilization, just survival until the day comes you're no longer grateful to be alive.
@vladdracula8103
@vladdracula8103 11 ай бұрын
He's also destroying the facility because if any of the diseases he was speaking about got out, there would be a 0% chance of human survival as opposed to the small chance they'd have otherwise.

Yeah it's pretty chilling to hear the tone and stuff, it kinda tries to represent a part of reallity, how the CDC have to literally burn their heads to come up with a cure to save people, probably deal with the worst diseases ever, all sorts of crazy stuff, and it's scary to think that what happens if one day they just can't come up with a cure like in this scene, scary to think how our lives depend of the CDC, and if one day fails....

After the first season, the show ceased to have a story. In the first season, it was all about the outbreak, it's aftermath, people joining forces, and making their way to the CDC. There was actually a goal with momentum behind it. Subsequent seasons just got really dull. It's literally the same shit over and over again. It's just them traveling place to place, looking for shelter and trying to survive. And that's it. There's no plot besides that. And the fact that they just keep killing off characters simply for shock value got really annoying.

I think the hidden gem of a series would be Jenner in the final months/weeks/days of his life. From momentarily pre-infection, right up to where he sees and opens the doors for Rick’s group. Ye as good as seasons 3-5 were, it was never the same when Frank Darabont left. He just had a knack for bringing stories to life. He just had so many cool ideas. I mean even his walkers had way more depth with them being able to retain certain memories and use objects. It made them seem more unpredictable and it really added to the horror element. Also, the way Darabont wrote his characters and the dialogue felt way more natural. I just love the conversations of morales and stuff he brought into it like real stuff that people would think if this was to be a real situation. It felt really authentic. Later, it really become a gore fest with a whole lot of fighting and action which is cool but you need that balance.

This was one of those pivotal episodes that so many people forgot about, and I don't know why. This is the episode where the audience discovers EVERYBODY ON EARTH is infected with the virus. Full stop. So people whining about the insanity of camouflaging oneself with infected blood can stop it. These characters are infected. ALL OF THEM. Hence the title 'Walking Dead.' It's simply a matter of the virus overwhelming a bodies defenses. Get sick, there's a chance. Get stabbed, there's a chance. Get bit,..there's a really good chance. Death = you're a walker.

The crazy thing is, you remember this scene like it always happened but I swear this scene never happened in season 1. The way they found out was when Rick suddenly for no reason whatsoever, mentions at the prison that everyone is infected, right after killing Shawn in season 2. This is actually my first time watching this and at first, I thought it was a late season flashback episode from after me dropping the series. It sort of feels like I just jumped into a different dimension because now I'm just here wondering how the entire group got out and even more importantly, how is it that they forgot that this man said that everyone is already infected. They must have, considering their shocked expressions in finding out at the End of season 2.

Even if I had survived up until this point, which would prove I have a chance of continuing to do so, I'd still take Jenner up on his offer. Not all groups are as lucky as Rick and his were. What if your ammo runs out and you're forced to get up close and personal? You're looking at an increased risk of being bitten just there. The food runs out and most areas are picked clean. I'd eat a bullet before I starved. To say nothing of hostile survivors and the horrors they could inflict on you. No, I'd sooner die with the last hope of the old world. Painless and vapourised before I could even process it. If that makes me weak then so be it. But I'd sooner avoid being torn apart or coming back as a monster.

Yet, out of all the people in that room, at the time I write this, only Rick, Daryl and Carol remain. At best, he just bought them some time, and at that, not even good time. When Jenner tells Rick "The day will come when you won't be [grateful]" really was prophetic. They really might have all been better off if they had just accepted it there and then. I've often maintained that "The Walking Dead" of the title aren't the walkers but the survivors, in the same way a person walking to the execution chamber at death row is said to be a "dead man walking": it's just a matter of time.

I don't know if the director was the problem or some things in the scenario. In one scene Rick cuts Negan 's throat but somehow Negan survives. This is only an example. Also Carl does NOT DIE in the comic. The producers fired the kid because he turned 18 and they had to pay him as an adult and they didn't want that.
