I agree! We’re starting to see their connection. We already knew they had one but it’s much deeper now.

I love this episode and, personally, would give it an 8.5 or a 9. I'm very much into character-driven episodes, and Daryl and Carol are my two faves. Plus, it was fun to go back into Atlanta after all this time. Setting it in the abandoned ruins of the city gave it such an eerie, haunting vibe, as opposed to most of the episodes that have been set in the woods or other rural areas. Great callout about Carol echoing to Daryl the same thing Merle said to her. That never occurred to me! Also, just FYI, it was actually Daryl who took the book on treating survivors of childhood abuse. This was confirmed in interviews with the cast and writers after the episode aired. When it fell out of his bag, it was a sign to viewers that he knows he has issues from the childhood abuse he suffered, and he wants to work on that. It's an example of him "trying," as he said to Carol. A few trivia tidbits/easter eggs about the episode: 1) The way Daryl and Carol drove into Atlanta was a mirror/callback to the iconic scene where Rick rode into the city on horseback, along that same stretch of highway. 2) When they left the women's shelter the next morning, there was a tank down the street in the background. It was the same tank where Rick was trapped in the first episode of Season 1. 3) The film crew pushed two vans off the bridge and they both landed upside down, of course. On the third try, they brought in a crane, dangled the van over the edge and dropped it, so they could finally get it to land upright. lol 4) When they filmed the scene where Carol got hit by the car and Daryl was fighting against Noah's grip so he could run to her, Norman Reedus kept breaking free. He finally told Noah's actor not to worry about hurting him and to put all his strength into holding him back. As a result, both actors wound up falling backwards onto that hard marble floor. Ouch. Bonus trivia: The above story reminds me of another. Melissa McBride said during the 5x1 reunion scene (when Daryl runs to Carol after Terminus), Norman Reedus was so enthusiastic he knocked her down, flat on her back. He jokes about it now, saying he was like a big German Shepherd. lol

Hi Anna, thank you so much for the Fun Facts! these are great! I will try and mention these in a video in the future. It's funny how it didn't even hit me at first that they were back in downtown Atlanta, as in that's how we started from in the first episode and went full circle. and we also missed that it was Daryl who took the book, I feel like we miss so much sometimes, lol. but thanks for bringing that up because it changes how we view it. It makes you love Daryl and their dynamic even more. The fact about the van is not surprising at all, that's why I thought it was nuts that the van didn't topple upside down, how horrible would that have been! Also glad to hear Norman isn't afraid of getting hurt in filming these episodes. He seems like he's a lot of fun to work with. lol

@@welovehorror Hey, I love sharing this stuff, so thanks for indulging me. lol! Also, don't feel bad about thinking Carol took the book instead of Daryl. It happened so quickly and it really was hard to tell whose bag it fell out of. I wasn't sure when I first saw the episode, and opinions on who took it were pretty evenly split in the fandom. That's one of the reasons the cast and writers got asked about it in interviews. And, yeah, Norman is infamous for getting injured during filming. He said he's lost count of how many black eyes he's had. Most of them are from holding the crossbow as he runs through doorways and such. Sometimes they cover them up with makeup, and sometimes they just write Norman's black eye into the story. lol!

@@welovehorror It always hurt my heart so much when the book fell out, knowing some of what happened to Daryl in his childhood from when he and Merle talked about their father. Re-watching makes me cry because you can see Norman reeeally lingering on the book in that first scene. Another re-watch made me realise Daryl also takes a notepad & puts it into the bag with the book, then when it falls out, a pencil & highlighter fall out with it. Suggesting he may have been intending to take notes from the book 😭😭😭

I just finished watching The Walking Dead yesterday. I watched seasons 1-11. Every episode. When I tell you, I didn't want it to end. It was such a great show. It has a lot of twists and turns. Good and bad. Just an overall great show ❤

That's so awesome you just made it to the end (but kind of sad too lol) We know we'll be sad when it ends even though we can't wait to get to the next right now.
