And that's with almost every year after that... I just have this thing to 'Put away what I want to' and music was possibly the only thing I cared about. Lyrics: So long ago I don't remember when That's when they said I lost my only friend Well they said she died easy of a broke heart disease As I listened through the cemetery trees I seen the sun comin' up at the funeral at dawn With the long broken arm of human law Now it always seemed such a waste She always had a pretty face I wondered why she hung around this place Hey-ey-ey Come on try a little Nothing is forever Got to be something better than in the middle Me and Cinderella We put it all together We can drive it home With one headlight She said it's cold It feels like independence day And I can't break away from this parade But there's got be an opening Somewhere here in front of me Through this maze of ugliness and greed And I've seen the sign up ahead at the county line bridge Sayin' all is good and nothingness is dead We run until she's out of breath She ran until there's nothing left She hit the end, just her window ledge Hey-ey-ey Come on try a little Nothing is forever Got to be something better than in the middle But me and Cinderella We put it all together We can drive it home With one headlight Well this place is old It feels just like a beat up truck I turn the engine but the engine doesn't turn Well it smells of cheap wine and cigarettes This place is always such a mess Sometimes I think I'd like to watch it burn I'm so alone Feel just like somebody else Man, I ain't changed, but I know I ain't the same But somewhere here in between the city walls of dying dreams I think her death, it must be killing me Hey, hey, hey-ey-ey Come on try a little Nothing is forever There's got to be something better than in the middle Me and Cinderella We put it all together We can drive it home With one headlight

It's amazing how a single song can take you back to an exact moment in time. This entire album got me through several long nights studying in high-school. How in the hell was that 18 years ago?! I remember that I actually won the album Bringing Down the Horse on a radio call in. Sadly my kids will likely not know the excitement of winning a radio contest or opening a brand new CD. I am sure my parents felt the same about 8 track and vinyl.

I remember the first time I heard this song. My dad and I were working on an old car in my uncle's body shop on a Sunday evening. The reason I remember it so vividly is because my uncle had bought an old truck to restore, and it had one headlight. I was 14 at the time. I am now 41 and can still remember snippets of working on that old car with my dad, listening to the radio and having probably one of the greatest times in my life.

Trust in Jesus, Hell is real and eternal! This is what the Bible says about it.. "The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth." Matthew 13: 41-42 Jesus Christ is the only way to heaven "I am the way, the truth, and the life no one comes to the father but by me." John 14:6 Ask God to reveal this to you- He will! "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23 ADMIT THAT YOU'RE A SINNER. We've all broken God's laws and ten commandments.. "Thou shalt not lie, steal, covet, dishonor parents, take God's name in vain.."(Exodus 20) We do not have righteousness on our own to get to heaven, "God made him (Jesus) who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." 2 Cor. 5:21 Godly sorrow leads to genuine repentance for sinning against the righteous God and there is a change of heart, we change our mind and God changes our hearts and regenerates us from the inside out. God is deadly serious about sin, when we genuinely repent we hate sin just as God hates it, and we turn away from it. "But God commended His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR YOUR SINS, WAS BURIED, AND THAT GOD RAISED JESUS FROM THE DEAD. This is trusting with all of your heart that Jesus Christ is who he said he was. He saves us from sin and hell and brings us into a relationship with him. We become God's children. We are saved from hell, eternal death. "For whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:13 CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD. Every single person who ever lived since Adam will bend their knee and confess with their mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord, the Lord of Lords and the King of Kings. Read the Bible, Walk with the Lord and give your life to Him!

Hells yeah it does. My ex wife and I are listening now, driving thru Louisville, downtown, and talking about how this and the cover or David Bowie's Heroes they did was so fabulous!

When music still was clutching on to any originality & meaning. Mass produced music has dulled the industry. It's a shame really.

Not wrong there.Had an accident the other evening - only to find later - one headlight was out. He works in mysterious ways. There is something mystically sublime within this vibe. Blessings ☮️🙏

Loved this radio staple growing up. When I found out he's Bob Dylan's son, I was shocked and also proud that I liked his son without knowing that. So technically I knew about Jacob Dylan before Bob Dylan. Call me young. Call me old. I'm both.

Sorry to break it to you. You're just a little too young. But props to you, Tights AF, you found Dylan all the same. Now you can drive it home, one headlight !!

it's weird how when your young (10-18) and your used to listening to the music available and you hear people say "vivid music isn't as good as when I was your age...you think yeah right. then as you get older you start to see the changes made in music as time progresses. then, well then you know what they meant.

hell yeah man its so wierd how the elders call it, then you see it for yourself

"...no music ever impacts us as much as that which we listen to at age 14." As music changes, we don't. We may learn to appreciate certain newer pieces, but we'll always fall back on what shaped us.

The 90's...I don't know if you would but I'd go back if I could. Best years of my life.
@aj36824 жыл бұрын
Looking back I swear there was something about those years that felt so amazingly warm, blissful and comforting. It's hard to try and explain it to anyone who wasn't alive during that era but man what time it was.

I tune in to my 90s music videos regularly to go back in time , 90s we’re magical, even thinking back to these times people were happier music was good and actually had music videos you could watch every morning w your coffee
@dirtfloorgarage84892 жыл бұрын
Oddly enough I enjoyed reading that… made me think about how we do things nowadays and honestly there isn’t much magic in it compared to back in the day.
