I have said this before, but I'll say it again. Mikey Day has the best concerned/shocked reactions. Any sketch that he plays a character who is surprised or shocked by what they are hearing, he is hilarious. I love the war letters to wife sketches. They are in my top fave SNL sketches. The one where he plays William with a wife Lydia is my favorite of these sketches. Hope they make more. Mikey Day is severely underrated.

The fact that he had to say;, "Omg she joined the German army!" After she literally called her commander by a German name and put a German helmet leads me to believe that writers knew they had to be very obvious for their punchline.

I totally agree on that final line, but this was a pretty great sketch other than that

@Brian O'Kongkohr true. We are at a time where they have to spell out each joke, or completely fizz out in order to not offend dumb ass people
@joncoda3656 жыл бұрын
@Brian O'Kongkohr Agreed, I think most SNL fans would get it (especially with the Helmet and obviously German name), but there is a large contingency here in the US who don't know who the belligerents were in WWI. We're dumb...
@maxchaps46466 жыл бұрын
Yeah. It would be so much funnier to end with her putting the helmet on with a creepy smile)
@rachelel90876 жыл бұрын
I kind of took his final line differently. To me, it seemed like he emphasized "German" in a way to be like, "you idiot! You joined the wrong side!! *facepalm* "

One of my ex-husband's favorite jokes to this day is to wait until you're on a road trip and you're sort of out in the middle of nowhere, and then ask as if a little uncertain, "Do you know where we are?" Then after the unwitting dupe of the joke tries speculating about which town might be the nearest: "No, we're *in the car* 🤣😂😆" He managed to catch me out with that one twice when we were first married, and 20 years later, he has never given up hoping he'll get me to fall for it again. More than one niece or nephew has fallen into the trap while a passenger in the car. 😉 He even tried to pull it on me once when we were in flight: Him - Do you know where we are? Me - If you say "in a plane," I'm going to punch you in the arm with all my might. 👊🏼
