The stirring introductory theme by Leith Stevens haunts me to this day!

Used to love this movie when I was 10 & liked it when the army fired at the aliens. I always wondered what the limits to their shields were

The limit was a atom bomb. In the film there’s a scene when they deploy the atom bomb. The aliens are seen to deploy the shields simultaneously around them all and link shields. It’s assumed but never said that their individual shield would not be able to withstand it

That's kinda interesting how the mouth of the alien that's shown here (even though it's not in the movie) looks like a mixture of the Ymir from 20 Million Miles to Earth and the Kraken from the original Clash of the Titans.

***** It was partially reused for the Kraken, I believe.

That artwork is from Ray Harryhausen's concepts for the movie. He had wanted to make War of the Worlds, but George Pal beat him to it.

Ray Harryhausen was involved with a project in 1948 , I believe in which "The war of the Worlds" was going to be made into a movie. Those Martians shown at the beginning were made by him. The project was shelved. The plot was going to take place in 1896, as the original story. This is what H.G. Wells Martians looked like in the book. The Movie we all know came out in 1953 as a George Pal production.

L'intro di 10 note dei titoli di testa è stato copiato da un pezzo di Tommy Dorsey chiamato "Tromboneology" del 1949
