Very smooth and cruisy music from The War on Drugs. I own the album that this track is from, though I think I need to explore their other material. Superb musicianship and song writing. I hope they tour Australia again. Genius.

I really like Lost in the Dream, but i feel like A Deeper Understanding is their best album. Keep coming back to it. If you have not already you should def give it a listen

My favourite band ever! Last 2 albums are AMAZING! Personal best is probably (On tuesdays) Eyes To The Wind. The best way to listen to them is like this: Get a car, best a convirtable, place your arm On the door feel the wind and play the album front to back. And drive for hours. New album out october. And it will be even better ! 💚

First off, you were close to comparing his voice to Bono and Bruce. I’d actually say Bruce and Bob Dylan if you listen again. Anyhow.. The War On Drugs have been making records for a long time and finally broke through with this very song and the phenomenal album it’s on, Lost In A Dream. Over the years, this track has morphed into a show highlight, with a crescendo that’s explosive. Some call them a jam band due to the length of their live versions. However you want to label them, they are truly an incredible band with quality performances that remind me of Dire Straits (Alchemy), Pink Floyd and other classic rock bands from that era. They have a MASSIVE following for the reasons highlighted above and have become my favourite band, period. The good news is that this isn’t their best song (to me anyhow) as they have a large catalog of songs that are all high caliber so you have a ton of content ahead of you. I’m very excited for you guys as they blew my mind the first time I came across them. Their live show is a 2.5hr gig that’s a spiritual experience. I’m actually seeing them co-headline with The National on Oct 2nd, ‘24. Enjoy the track!!

"Relatively new but mostly unknown band" Seriously? :-) The War on Drugs has been performing as main act for 50k+ audience festivals for years here in Europe. Go see them live as soon as it's possible again! 8th of july in Lisbon for example. Check their live studio performances at KEXP on KZbin for more. So many more 'Gateway songs": Thinking of a Place, Red Eyes, Pain, Ocean Between the waves.
