nice nice! finally big hammer is back! currently templar sims like 20-30kdps higher in pure st, the moment one add appears it's a loss... hopefully st. is now fixed in m+. so the dawnlining crit embellishment will also be BiS

Yeah templar has conditional cleave tied to crit while herald had it free with no downside, but with the stats we have now and the buffs to templar id say it will be more reliable

I’ll still stick with herald. It was such a relieve to get rid of seraphim as a 5 hp spender and now we get another 5 hp spender… I don’t like this but this is probably a me-problem.

Probably a bit too much crit, the perfect spot is balancing good mastery with crit so your hits are chunky

Yeah the damage gap is pretty huge also most of the damage from templar is reliable you can even move from pack to pack with the shake the heavens buff, while if you left a dawnlight on a target that died before well that dot was wasted

It seems we wont while it looks like the most logical step, crusade just scales better with other sources of haste like the 15% boost that templar has giving us pseudo extra crit because we can throw more spells faster so more chances of crting

@@JeyKalda the difference seems to be very minor and fight dependent, since in the current raid tier you got almost no st fights, outside of kyveza and sikran its all boss+adds, which makes pure st trinkets in those fights a bit odd to sim, currently is also dependent on the current stat balance of your character, e.g. the delve knife was good for me due to mastery, i got an item with even more mastery, but lost haste, and that lead to the fact, that the ara kara trinket overtook the delve trinket. its so close.

Yes move stuff to Crit so im about 32% crit and sims tell me its enough i did lower my haste a lot but templar does give you reliable 15% haste with very high uptime

I main ret. And have zero clue what the hero talents do. In either side. Both talk about things I NEVER use. And I consistently do 1.5 million dps. Sometimes more on small groups. I have 6 chars at 80. None of them come close to this dps. With better gear. I stay with Harold because like you said I’m not forced to learn some new mechanic that makes it harder. No clue what Harold does. But my rotation can stay the same.

@SpiritGRF Those aren't buffs, it's just making lightsmith competitive to Templar. Lightsmith was useless prior. The biggest issue with prot pally is they're squishy af and they do terrible dps compared to the other tank specs

Yeah just like what Lightblade said, HoS most likely won't get nerfed. It will still have the same dps but Templar would have a boosted dps compared to HoS

I’m gonna make a Ret channel where the words “Nerf” “unreasonable”, “scared”, “fearful” and “calling for nerfs” are banned. It will be a channel of appreciation and love for Buffs. Being top on the lists is never good for any spec in wow, brings too much atention and therefore nerfs we saw this with fury we say it with arcane mages this season, the buffs are needed but they might have gone a bit over on some of them

Let's be real, Ret AoE is an outlier now that Fury is getting nerfed. Either Blizz knows the class tree rework is going to bring down Ret power a lot or they will bring the nerf hammer down soon on their AoE.

how keys are currently played its just templar always, the priority damage it gives can get rid of big threats or anoying casters very fast, also since it does damage upfront you dont really lose value if for example something died with your dawnlight

Everybody keeps saying templar wasn't even bad, but in practice and in actual gameplay it is, this is an example of sims not being everything. Herald requires negative brainpower to perform better, these buffs are needed. 99% of people playing one hero talent set up for every single scenario is bad game design/balance.

Yeah Templar wasnt bad in the numerical sense but playing it was clunky, the buffs are great but this just makes templar flat out better then herald by like 4-5% i feel they went too hard on them
