I met the band in August 2023 watching the show recorded at the Metropolitan Theater. After listening to the first 3 songs I was already a fan. But it was this live performance of Atlas Rise that brought me to my knees in front of them. They had done an exhausting 2-hour show and in response to the fans' requests, they played Atlas Rise without any rehearsal, without any preparation... How many bands in the world would take on a challenge like that? Maybe not even Metallca would accept this challenge..

*Fun Facts I:* Daniela (guitar) goes by Dany. Alejandra (bass) goes by Aleeh Paulina (drums) goes by Pow (spelled Pau). *Fun Facts II:* They only played *Atlas Rise* twice. One time they recorded it at their home studio called *The Cave.* That video marked the end of The Warning playing covers. Since at this time they just released their second album *Queen of the Murder Scene.* This was a private show at the Whiskey A Go-Go Jan. of 2019. This was a Kickstarter show (crowd funding for studio time to record *QotMS* album) where they very last song as a surprise encore song (after playing for 1¾ hrs. was *Atlas Rise.* Since this time. The only cover The Warning has played live during their set is their version of *Enter Sandman.* *Fun Facts III:* Don't know exactly when Pau switched over to her Albeton computer from her previous laptop. Don't think she switched yet. The old laptop controlled the backtrack (a fourth musician), click track (that's why they're very tight) & the video screen behind them (if available). She uses a pad to hit with a drum stick turn on/off the click, backing, screen tracks. With the Ableton. She uses pedles to begin/end the tracks.

Prior to Ableton Pau was using iTunes until someone suggested Ableton. All the "stems" for all the songs are on there, but they only use a few regularly: piano on "Survive", a couple of short guitar fills on "Choke" and "Dull Knives", Alessia Cara's "vocal embellishments" on "Enter Sandman", the sound effects on "Money", Rudy's "sermon" on "Dust To Dust", the guitar that sounds like a synthesizer on "More". And if the laptop crashes they can still play their whole set (which has happened).

This song was performed in the encore of the gig after 2+ hours. You can tell that they are all tired, especially Ale near the end. The laptop Pau has had all the backing tracks on the songs and she controlled when they will start and stop. I think Dany has a pedal board now that does the same so Pau does not control as much anymore as this is an older video.
@elgonwilliams7624 Жыл бұрын
You can see how exhausted Ale is toward the end. Almost a 2 hour set. And she was 14 y/o at this time, I think. I've heard they went back to the dressing room and collapsed from exhaustion. I don't doubt it. Pau is a multitasker. At that time she ran the entire show from that computer. Mainly there are extra guitar tracks for some of their songs, maybe a piano here and there, and a few backing vocals. It also runs their click track. However, there have been shows where it failed mid-show or didn't run at all, and they still played the show, so it's more of an enhancement tool instead of a crutch for them. I think that further back they ran their slide show whenever they had screens and the stage lights from the laptop as well. They use a software program called Ableton, which is a professional management system that Dany's pedal board (and Ale's as well) connects with allowing the computer to connect programmed stems (segments from their studio recordings) into the devices to activate at predetermined times during a song. Both Pau and Dany spend a lot of time setting up an entire set profile into the computer and Pau controls the show from two floor switches at her kit. (She used to start it manually from the computer and then, for a time she stuck a control pad with a drum stick).

However the energy and sound is what those of us that have seen them live in small to moderate sized venues have heard. My first show was in Boston 8/23. 400 person capacity sold out. I still have trouble describing to my friends how good they were. As you search for songs to react to, choose live and make sure to listen to their live small venue shows. Ableton Live is a program that Pau (short for Paulina) uses on her laptop to trigger the sequences, effects and the metronome that the three of them listen to in their ears to go in tempo with the music. In the song enter sadman live there are some chorus sounds that were originally recorded by Alessia Cara who collaborated with them in the studio version and are triggered in the song through that laptop, it is an example of what can be done. Band Maid's drummer "Akane" also wears one like it at concerts.
@ot9er Жыл бұрын
Yes... there's at least one video she made about this, I'm too sleepy to look it up. (The metronome is called a click track.) It sounded to me like she used it to double her voice on Dust to Dust at the Foro Didi Concert. It is also programmed to run the background video and light shows. It can even control Dany's pedals, if necessary. Pau's a fricken multi-faceted genius, in addition to her other supernatural talents.

This was the last song of a 2+ hour set and they were exhausted. The laptop has Ableton on it and it plays their click track and backing tracks. They use it to embellish their sound and stay on time. One thing to note is that they don't need it. You can see many videos that they've done where they don't have Ableton playing in the back and they still sound incredible. That laptop can drop of the stand and stop working and you probably wouldn't even notice, especially if you were there live.

Kinda reminds me of Metallica opening for Ozzy as an example, uh oh fellas time to gear it up or we're gonna get blown off the stage 😉😂🤣

Unreal, that’s a lot of sound from 3 teenagers.

Completely agree Pau smashed it, singing while Paunding the drums as hard as she does, requires extreme talent, and this was from about 5-6 years ago. I think the laptop is to control lighting and maybe backing tracks such as piano, etc.

I’ve been hooked since I heard the cover of Enter Sandman and have pretty much had every song I’ve heard become my favorite after hearing it! I’m convinced their Parents, Luis and Mony are lifelong Rockers and their girls were hearing Rock even from the womb! No disrespect, but when they tell you to read to your unborn child, these two were reading and rocking at the same time! Rock On! 🤘👍🤘🙏

I understand that she uses the computer for click signals for communication with her sisters not to clear on that, and for changing the videos on screen if i am not mistaken And i think also for the backing tracks on some of the songs. I think that is a lot to do on top of everything else she does.

Pau not only drums and sings but she runs the background videos, lights, etc and also if any songs have a background track she starts that with the laptop which I understand is an iMac. I believe Pau has at least a quadruple CPU in her head.

Had not played it in 3 years. Added it as favor their 2nd night as the encore of a 23 song set. Ale needed help back to the green room.

Pau uses the computer to control many aspects of their show. The band plays live to a click track, which allows them to control the lighting cues, video displays, and instruments (like a piano, guitars or strings) which they cannot physically play on stage being only a three piece. The computer is tied into the petal boards of both Ale and Dany as well, so that switching effects need not be done by the players, they can concentrate on just playing the notes. Dany for instance, incorporates both a delay, and a stereo split into nearly every song. Each speaker has a unique guitar sound coming from it. There will not only be a split second delay to what she plays, but one speaker will have her guitar either at a slightly different octave, or running through a different amp simulation. This helps fill everything out, and is all run through the computer. Unlike some bands….looking at you Falling in Reverse….the ladies can play, and have done without said computer and most of the time you have no idea that the system has crashed, because they have learned to soldier on through (and because the computer is only there to add accents to what is happening live). If you want an example of the computer crashing mid show, I will provide a link. The show is at this same venue, but in 2018. The computer pukes out, and Pau looks off stage, mid song. She summons her father, who at the time was their only full time stage hand and tells him the click is down….all while continuing to play. He motions for her to just roll with it, so she does. The band keeps going as if nothing has happened finishing their set without it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZDVgoZ8pciSm5Isi=WXU7_chjJFAQpDnR As an aside, the recording is fan shot, so the audio is limited, but not horrible. I will scan through and time stamp the occurance once I finish watching your reaction. Ok, so the song begins at 16:45 of the video, and about 15 seconds in, the computer goes down. The song called Runaway btw.

The switching of guitar effects have always been triggered by Dany by pressing buttons on her peddle board when she needs them, each song effects are programmed into the peddle board and don't need to go through the laptop, the only thing the laptop ever did for a few years was switch to the next song so Dany did not need to do it manually, since covid when she started using her new peddle board she switches songs manually again.

To add to @awadoma2702: there are examples out there where her (latest) board needs to be set to the song chosen (the "jar song"). Dany does that: here an example where she even comments on it kzbin.info/www/bejne/qn6VoYt7hJysY9kfeature=shared&t=86🤘 If you look closely to live recordings, you will see that she is constantly changing settings during songs, depending on the sound needed that moment. She is in full control: her Kemper is a computer by itself anyway.

The computer is because Pau controls the settings of Danny and Ale's guitars, although they can change it from their pedals.

Dany takes care of the crowd. Pau takes care of the show (that's what the computer is for). Ale keeps the time and takes care of her sisters. Ale's best example of taking care of her sisters is when she comforts Pau at the end of the Teatro Metro show. I'm pretty sure it's edited out in the official version of the show, but is clear in the fan shot videos. It just shows how much of a family they are.
