BBALLBREAKDOWN

Coach Nick breaks down the offense Steve Kerr unveiled at the Summer League - a nice mix of Triangle offense and Motion Weak that the Spurs run. Without question, a huge upgrade over last year and their 13th ranked offense.

Jackson received too my credit for their defense in my opinion. If the man can't coach plays on offense I can't see how he can coach them on defense. Ask most in the know and Bogut is actually the main reason for the defensive improvement. He is the quarterback out there that runs the team on defense and yells out where everyone should be. Jackson just stood there with his hands in his pockets

Kerr's Phil/Pop offense could make the Warriors offensively invincible. Plus, with Alvin Gentry on board, Golden State might be able to usurp the Clippers as one of the top three seeds in the west (assuming they win the Pacific Division). But what will their defense be like? Could the Warriors end up being compared to the Phoenix Suns 2.0?

BBALLBREAKDOWN I want to see if the Dubs can maintain all this offensive flow. I had wondered at one time if they can get a coach to get Steph, Klay and Co. in a great flow considering how well they do on defense anyway. Also if Bogut can stay healthy in the playoffs. You need rim protectors when you go deep against the best in the west.

As a Knicks fan who was looking forward to Kerr coming to New York, I'm actually happy to see him with this team. Much more well-rounded roster and it seems his approach will marinate well with this group. I also like his triangle/Motion mix, the plays seem to start a bit earlier in the shot clock with just as much movement and really makes the defense lock in on every possession. Coach, do you think this play style could actually be more effective than the triangle? especially with 2 smart bigs like Lee & Bogut?

@t4d0W
@t4d0W 10 жыл бұрын
the lack of a ball handler is painful but I think if they have young guys who can run, why not run up and down? It worked for the nuggets under Karl but they were deep. Unless Vucevic develops an outlet passing ability, it will also be hard to initiate that kind of aggressive transition offense.

David Lee is going to love some of the return to actions similar to when he was with D'Antoni on the Knicks. In 08 and 09, Lee was often the focal point of playmaking at the top of the key, and the Knicks used a lot of flex action as their first option before the inevitable spread P&R.

I love that Coach Nick actually responds to most of the comments here. He's got it right when he says it's not a channel, it's a conversation. Well, I want in. I want to know your thoughts on the Kevin Love situation. Obviously now, the Warriors are likely not getting Kevin Love. But for the past few months the Warriors were in intense talks to acquire him and Kevin Martin for Thompson, Lee, Barnes, and a pick. Which got me thinking a lot about that scenario, if the Warriors got Love. Do you think the Warriors are better off with Curry, Martin, Iguodala, Love, and Bogut? Or do you think they're a better title contender with the team they have now of Curry, Thompson, Iguodala, Lee, and Bogut?

Just wanna say I come to your channel almost every day now, really enjoy watching the old comparison vids you did of Jordan and Kobe and also the specific player evaluations of RW and Melo. Very good analysis. Few question, do you believe Phil Jackson, now with a almost-fully-revamped roster on the knicks, and Fish as the HC with Kurt Rambis assisting, could actually make a good run in the playoffs? I think the triangle is effective enough that the current players, if done right, could really exceed expectations but is Melo the guy he should be building around? Sorry for the sloppy questions, I'm just one of those Knick fans who never gets their hopes up due to the past, but I really feel we may be on to something now and it'd be nice to get your opinion on it. :]

0:22 he might be onto something big. you called it at the year 2014. this video broke down the warriors offense. this offense is now what the whole league is trying to copy... which is something i totally do not understand. yes this brand of basketball works but only if you have the right personel on your team. curry, thompson, bogut, dray, and david lee all had the potential of doing this already. that was their brand of basketball. im not sure why everyone is copying steve kerrs playstyle, because nobody switched to copy a teams offense so quickly like we see today... i dont remember many teams all running triangle offense the year phil jackson won. steve kerr is a genius, im not blaming him for messin with the game a little bit today, but some teams in the league CURRENTLY as im saying this now in 2022. they need to stop trying to copy this style. i also feel so sorry for the big men trying out for the NBA from 2014-2015 (example: jahil okafor) because everything he was practicing on like in the lowpost wasnt "wanted" by any teams anymore. i wonder whos gonna be the next coach to bring back the traditional game and win with bigs. the closest thing were the suns last year with cp3 shooting mid ranges and deandre as a true center. also the cavs this year with allen mobley have a chance to bring this style back. PSA TO NBA TEAMS. YOU ARENT THE WARRIORS LOL.

For some reason, I felt more compelled to Kerr than Fisher, but these are two very different teams, so maybe it's just because he showed some alternative sets and this shows taht he can adapt and that's compelling. If you think that one is more similar to the Bulls/Lakers that Phil ran because of Melo, that might be a reason why Fisher sticked to the more traditional sets while Kerr tried new stuff since the GSW don't have a guy like Melo, but they do have a lot of shooting. If they can maintain their D and improve the O by just hiring Kerr, he will be well worth his money and not trading Thompson will be an improvement by itself for the Warriors.

I feel like Steve Kerr is really going to help this team. I still think they are one piece away (Love) before they are a true title threat but they look really good.

If this works according to plan, and if they can stay healthy, the Warriors might have the best offense in the league this season.

Triangle offense and motion requires good post players, such as Pau, Marc, Duncan, or Webber. .

Ricky Ricafort Warriors do not have one of these players unless they would have Aldrige in the offseason. Kerr did the right thing to abandon these sets and replace them with Pistol Drag and FLOPPY sets that worked well in the playoffs and propell it with a championship.

***** I think the Pacers' heads got too big too soon. They got their first taste of success and got way too ahead of themselves. They lost what made them so strong in the first place which was their great chemistry and their humility. I mean yea Paul George getting injured was a freak thing but still I think the Pacers put themselves in the position they are today. They proved that you try to put yourself among the elites before you're ready you will get slammed to the ground.

JavachipVMN Washington yes. Charlotte LOL no. Bulls can whipe them clean considering all Charlotte does is score inside and haven't showed any other threats for offense. And bad luck for them considering the Bulls added length inside and still retained their defense on the perimeter. I'm particulary high on Washington but it depends on how the 3 position fixes itself and if they can get better depth. There was that one game between the Pacers/Wizards in the playoffs where the Wizards dug so deep they brought out Drew Gooden for minutes and I was wondering if they wanted to win the game that badly by putting that clown out.

jifyum07 not really. I feel its just a group who couldn't deal with 'adversity' and maybe they aren't meant to be together as a core that way. The good thing is rest of the starters get to have production come down their way. Davis West definitely will have another possibly 17/18 ppg season. Stuckey and CJ Miles can get 25-27 minutes to fill. But I think if the Pacers are to grow, they have to look at other guys like Copeland. Its not a contending season for them but one where they can see if pieces still fit moving forward.

Nathan Martinez they could've been top 4 seed if they had better offense than their 12th rank offense and if they didn't lose those 9 home games to inferior teams.

Warriors ranked 1st in most games decided by 4pts or less, most game winners, and most comeback wins. They're record could've been a lot better if they had a coach who could sustain a lead or not sub 5 of his starters out when they're LOSING by double digits.
