The Washington Commanders started the season 1-4 under Carson Wentz but got hot with Heinicke under center and rallied to get to 7-5, but the Commanders ended up not making a wildcard. Washington finished 8-8 and 1. However, a lot of things can change in Washington. Possibly new quarterback Sam Howell and a new Offensive Coordinator. Dan Snyder He's looking into selling the team and Jeff Bezos with the help of Jay Z Could be the deal Snyder Goes with. All jokes aside, Chase in the Cowboy game got jammed up, pumped his feet a couple times and gave up on the play…. No more is he running down ball carries down field, no more is he dipping and ripping. It’s a half speed bull rush that goes nowhere after two seconds. Even watching him get off the snap, he was routinely getting beat by all other down lineman, specifically interior tackles. His play in the Cowboy game put tape out there that kills any trade value there was for him, and only shows me he may never be more than a back-up.

I began following Washington because Rivera was hired to coach there. I was a "Riverboat Ron" fan. Give him credit for changing the culture in Washington. That was his primary responsibility. Now, the team needs a winner, no more "Paddleboat Ron." When he fired long-time assistant, Scott Turner, and benched Taylor Heinike for Wentz, I realized he no longer trusted his own decisions. Time for him to go.

Been Reported Rivera Telling Any Prospective OC , that Howell will be the WFT QB . I would take that with a grain of Salt . Also report River / Mayhew have already started looking into Carr , doing a potential background check on him and trade costs . I agree with Douglas. But I feel Heineke is just as good as Howell. But he also needs more playing time under a good OC. This guy was sitting on his couch doing nothing and hadn't been in the league a few years before Washington picked him up and he instantly played well almost beating Brady and the BUCS his 1st game. Yeah he struggles at times but I'm sure he's never been with a good mentor or qb coach or OC. So I feel what he's done since being in Washington Is pretty exceptional!! And obviously his teammates love him and you can't deny he brings a spark to the field when he Is in the game!!

That is another reason I don't believe in Ron Rivera. He played all of the other young players we hadn't seen in the finale against Dallas, but didn't want to show the mistake he made by trading for a QB bust in Carson Wentz. Playing Sam Howell would have proved he made a huge mistake and all of the players on the team knew...but the general public didn't know. It was a huge cover up by a head coach with a losing record that has no accountability. What a shame.

Although I was impressed by Sam Howell in the Dallas game, I'm not ready to proclaim him as "The Answer" based on a single game performance in a meaningless game. Still, I feel comfortable going into next season with him and Taylor as our 1-2 quarterbacks, with possibly someone drafted in the mid-to-late rounds as a third stringer. Trading for Lamar Jackson or Derek Carr is tempting, but we would probably have to give up someone from the defensive line to do so, which would be tough. Anything that aggressive will difficult to do with the ownership situation up in the air.

Don't bet on Taylor returning to the Commanders. Not all teams buy mediocre talking heads BS that Taylor is nothing but a backup. It is rumored that Tampa is considering him as a QB prospect. Have faith....I watched this guy play at UNC. He was valedictorian of his class...he has been described by Rivera as "exceptionally smart". He threw two long balls in that game against Dallas ...one dropped, one caught but both were in the bread basket. He can run like hell when he needs to...he is a dual-threat quarterback which seems to be what teams want these days...it's almost essential to be a starter in this league now. His teammates love him....Heinecke pulled the coaches aside and told them to start him the last game...why? He has watched him in practice all year. He knows Howell can ball and knew he deserved a chance...I commend Heinecke for that..again, he was described as "a dawg" by his teammates....he has the support of all his teammates...they have rallied around him, they have been watching all season....his offensive coach at UNC said "He just needs a chance". He studies film all the time, he lifts and it's been said they can't get him out of the weight room. I'm going to make a prediction right now...I feel very confident with what I'm about to say...my prediction is the Washington will absolutely beyond a shadow of a doubt make the playoffs next year. How far will they go? I have no idea...i think the only team standing in their way is the Eagles...this team is going to be good and I expect to see them in the playoffs pretty consistently the next 5-10 years...this is the quarterback we have been waiting for...he is the "Messiah" ...he is finely here...the only thing that can screw this up is a poor decision of some sort by the coaches, management or the owner. A prudent fan would not elevate a backup QB to the future starting QB based on one game, especially one which meant nothing to the opposing team. The Dallas game was not like playing the undefeated Eagles on Monday Night Football in Philly while the Division title was undecided.

Jack Del Rio has provided Washington with a top defense. Ron Rivera has been named coach of the year multiple times. He fought cancer during the season and won (apparently). Instead of simply firing people, don't you believe competent replacements should first be found?

@Charles Deck I would agree with you, but Washington won the NFC Least during Rivera's first year. Yes, Cam was a generational talent until DJ Watt drilled his throwing shoulder while he was throwing. He was never the same afterwards. Rivera started Kyke Allen in his place. I believe he won 5 straight until San Francisco crushed the Panthers

Hmmm. Did you watch that game? The play in which his 2 point conversion was broken up by a flagrant foul cost the team a chance at victory. Why blame him when the officials allow defenders to butt-F*ck receivers in critical situations?
