Thankfully not underrated by those of us who love them. I had bought tickets for The Pretenders in Munich, 1984. This unknown to me band opened the concert. I loved the Waterboys better than the Pretenders, and have loved them since.

That's one of the things you learn about music, over time. How the 'rules' such as they are, can be bent. I saw a band live recently where the lead guitarist used a violin bow with his guitar because of the distinct sound he was able to produce, and y'know what? It was cool as hell.

I would just like to know how a collection of fantastic musicians were not given the credit they all deserve. Again the Waterboys know how to produce pure and superb class. This is the best ever version of Purple Rain. Is it just me? now this is opinion but I think it even blows the great Prince himself out of the park. I know this was written by Prince and it is a great song and he did a good job at the time I thought but hearing the Waterboys version here. This is a whole new ball game. Princes version did NOT take my attention and rivet me to the floor the same way this version by the Waterboys did and still does. Mike Scotts vocals on this is unbelievable. All of it. Fantastic. May Prince REST IN PEACE. I think if he was alive he would even have to applaud the class this is and give tbe Waterboys a standing ovation for this great cover. God bless all Susan xxxx🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤❤❤👍

The Waterboys have been going for about 40 years so they probably have many times! He changes the lineup a lot though, but Steve (fiddle) is usually included.
