Rohit definitely appears to have an edge if you look at pure numbers. Remember Sachin didnt convert many 50s and good starts into centuries. Rohit just seems to have a much better conversion rate.

I would like to add here is that, Rohit plays longer innings. His scores are big. If we count his centuries, his scores are pretty high. Once he scores a century he doesn't get out quickly and God forbid if his catch is dropped and gets a life then he definitely hits a double. Its a known fact that his acceleration after 100 is crazy, Keeps on scoring 150 becomes a small thing. If he continues like this he might create a record for highest big scores.

quality of bowling is way too improved but conditions are not consistent, batting approach is changed which is the difference earlier 250 was par score as it was the templete but nowdays due to all rounders and influence of t20 made odi s par to 300 , not poor bowling .. in present scenario those bowlers would have gone for loads of runs who knows
