Really appreciated your thoughts, Tom. I had a similar experience on both the pros and cons, and, while I didn't *hate* the dwarves, but I didn't love them either, and felt the same frustration at the way they derailed the plot. I was actually more peeved at Dayraven through all that because of his overall passivity in the story...i.e. kind of letting events or other characters decide his path rather than him making choices for himself. Even so, the story was solid overall and I'm hopeful the second book will be even better.

Thats a good point with Dayraven. He really is like a ship in the wind getting blow were ever. Im hoping to start book two soon.

@@TomOrange I'm just so grateful you were honest. So many BookTubers would've just given high praise because they like Philip. I'll be reading this one eventually. I like the old storybook feel of the classic fantasy novels, so I think I'll enjoy it -- but if I don't, you'll know why. Haha!

If you like old school fantasy its worth the read. If not i would say it can wait
