A classic and under-rated Biograph film with Florence Lawrence ("The Biograph Girl') at her Biograph zenith (she left for the newly formed IMP two months later) and Mary Pickford as her cousin just beggining her Biograph career. There are clearer versions available than this one, courtesy of the Film Preservation Society's (FPS) Biograph Project. Arthur Johnson and Florence would both star together again in many films at Lubin in 1911-1912. Johnson officially died from tuberculosis, but most people believe it was from alcohol poisoning, since he suffered greatly from alcoholism. Two wonderful actors whose lives ended in despair.

Arthur V. Johnson was a favorite actor of D. W. Griffith. Arthur was born Feb. 2, 1876 died Jan 17, 1916. Florence Lawrence committed suicide, Born Jan. 2, 1886 died Dec. 28, 1938. She took ant poison and cough syrup and died. There are conflicting claims pertaining to her death. Florence is considered the very first movie star. Sad ending to a beautiful woman and her career. She was 52 when she died
