"The Ways Long Past" is an original dwarven song in our Hammerdeep collection. We are continuing to develop our own Dwarven legend through multiple musical compositions. We hope you enjoy it:)
We wrote the lyrics, composed, and arranged the piece. My family sang it.

Lyrics:
The Ways Long Past
What do you seek, young mind of ignorance,
On this book hoard gaze with reverence,
Honor these pages
Honor the sages
Honor in mind all the ways long past
Kept in this vault is creation’s history
Kept in this vault are Dwarven secrets
How wilt thou measure them?
How wilt thou treasure them?
How wilt thou live all the ways long past?
Told in these tomes are tales of Tormingar
Binder of book and scribe of saga
Tales of far history
Tales of marred mystery
Tales of the dark in the ways long past.
Tales of the blood spilt to build our kingdom
Tales of the heroes strong in courage,
Stains on the garment
Stains on the parchment
Stains red and black of the ways long past.
Scrolls of the Dwarven forge and armory
Scrolls of the stone road, vast and glowing
Cities of symmetry
Cities of industry
Cities of stone wind in ways long past
Myth of the golden pool of Oron,
Smith of the diamond, Boic Bravesoul,
Days of antiquity
Days of iniquity
Days good and ill forged the ways long past
Search for the runes of rites and rituals
Search for the rooms now safe and secret
Knowledge is binding
Knowledge worth finding
Knowledge of life and the ways long past.

The long way home... through mountain and stone. I dig through dirt... to find the place of my birth. For the legends tell... of a fortress that fell. Our old home... of marble and stone. - Words of an ancient Dwarf digging not for treasure or gold.

I must my favorite part is the final one and each lines brings forth it's own image in my head. "Search for the runes of rites and rituals" especially bring forth the image of a Dwarven smith chanting runes into existence before hammering them into the objects he is making. The last 3 lines makes me think of Dwarves having reclaimed a lost city of theirs and trying to find every scrap and shard of lost writing they can. "Knowledge is binding Knowledge worth finding Knowledge of life and the ways long past." I really like this one, thank you for making it.

Well, can´t say no to more dwarven songs. I really love how this one emphasizes tradition and the very long history of the dwarves over some of the more obvious concepts such as mining, forging or even hard work and protecting your clan or keep.

Let no one claim that Dwarves are only good for killing orks and striking metal. Read a book or two and you'll find that chisels can carve magic runes just as easily as pillars of stone. At least I imagine the gentlemen in the Hammerdeep library would say something to that effect.

Beneath the mountain father's gaze. We made our home in halls of gray In vaults of steel and hearths of stone. The dwarves of yore would build alone Ne're seen the pale moon's eyes. Nor the golden ray's of the sun in the sky The squall of the sea knows not our name The cold wind's chill we can not claim. For beneath the mountain father's gaze, We made our home in halls of grey In vaults of steel and hearths of stone, The dwarves of yore would sing their song. With bones of steel and hearts of stone We craft and build our mountain home From the roots of the earth to the pale windy peaks A watchful eye forever we keep

Are you talking about the same Church built on an Apostle Christ renamed Rock, to which Church and to whom Peter's successors in his chair of office He promised would be a rock against which the hordes of Hades would not prevail? (ex-Shady Tax Collector's Memoir*, Chapter 16, cf. Isaiah, Chapter 22) *"...the memoirs of the Apostles, called 'Gospels'. . ." explanation of the 'Divine Service' and the Real Presence of Christ in the Sacrament/Sacrifice, written to Emperor Antoninus Pius and his adopted heir Marcus Aurelius in 155 A.D., by St. Justin Martyr. Courage, there is a "great cloud of martyrs" cheering on the great race down the Way with the Truth to the Life!
