@@SpacedOutPuffin the most funny is that it happen more than 800 years from Xuan Ji and General Pei last encounter
@kaylenvee81507 күн бұрын
The thing about the situation around Pei Ming and Xuan Ji is that Pei Ming is not wholly to blame for everything that happened. A lot of people like to put all the blame on him for being a playboy, but that ignores all the genuinely terrible things Xuan Ji did, and Pei Ming did make good points. First of all, they're war generals of opposing nations. To pursue a romantic relationship at all was risky because the relationship between their countries could change at any moment, and as generals, they have thousands of soldiers under their command as well as innocent civilians to protect. People are relying on their leadership and their loyalty MUST be to their country first and foremost. This is why Pei Ming wanted no strings attached. His loyalty was to his country, and the reason why he grew an interest in Xuan Ji at all was for her dedication to hers - She would have rather died than submit. Of course, Xuan Ji isn't wrong for developing deeper feelings for Pei Ming, especially since we don't know the full details of their relationship. Did they ever create boundaries from the start, did Pei Ming say anything that implied this would be something long-term etc, it's too vague and we don't know everything. However, what we do know is that Xuan Ji betrayed her own country by trying to give Pei Ming their intelligence. And she did this on her own. Pei Ming never asked for the information and even burned it. He didn't want it. Xuan Ji was willing to sacrifice the soldiers depending on her, her country and all the innocent civilians she was protecting. And that's inexcusable. If Pei Ming did have any deeper feelings for her, that act would've killed it instantly. Then there's also what she does afterwards. Mutilating yourself in order to bound this other person to you and make them take responsibility is extremely toxic and unhealthy behaviour. I'm not surprised that Pei Ming wouldn't want anything to do with her after that, and in no way should he feel obligated to marry her for that. However, Xie Lian makes a good point. Even if it was Pei Ming's right to not want to see Xuan Ji again, if he'd come to see her and talk to her even once, maybe this situation could've been different, because Xuan Ji becoming a resentful spirit and murdering so many innocent people, and ruining the futures of all those brides, was one of the worst outcomes. The purpose of this arc is really to just hammer home what to expect from the rest of the series, which is that things are a lot more complicated than they seem, and nothing is black or white. Heaven isn't this pillar of absolute righteousness, and ghosts aren't just evil for evil's sake.

Also, just to keep in mind, this series is LONG. The book series is 8 volumes long, 300+ pages each book. The first season covers volume 1, but season 2 only covers a portion of volume 2, not all of it. They might not even animate the whole series and if they do it will take a while, plus the animated version would be extremely censored because China can’t include depictions of LGBTQ+ rep in their media. So if you want the full story with all the spicy details don’t expect it from the show. If we even got so much as a censored kiss in the later seasons that would be a blessing lol. This is why people so adamantly recommend reading the books. Anyways, enjoy the series, I just thought this is info you should be made aware of. ^^

Some of your theories are so on point, but I won't say which ones. Don't worry we were all waiting for Butterfly Man to come back. You'll be happy to know he makes an appearance soon and you're going to learn his name next episode. Xie Lian's titles: -The Crowned Prince Who Pleased The Gods -Flower Crowned Martial God: "Sword in one hand, Flower in the other" (there's some major symbolism here) -The God of Misfortune -Scrap Immortal Yes, those titles are all over the place. My boy has gone THROUGH IT Your edit comment about having no clue this was a BL; same, I went into this show with no knowledge and didn't catch on until episode 5. But then I was WAY more invested when Butterfly Man showed up again because I was so curious and paid way more attention to their interactions.

yay! another episode is here >:3 2:38 one incentive to read the books after is that the donghua only covers less than 2/8ths of the novel in the first two seasons 😅 and at the rate it's at it will be a long time before they cover the whole story if ever. there's also just a bunch of fun little details in the books you don't get in the show. hopefully you can figure out a shipping situation! I believe there's also an ebook version as well 🤔 3:13 we definitely say TGCF! but if you want to know what it stands for just for fun it's Tian Guan Ci Fu (天官赐福) 6:25 amazing analysis, I think Xie Lian is such a well written character bc you can tell how much life experience he has based on the way he acts and makes decisions! very fitting for an 800 year old! 14:14 the ghost bride's name is spelled "Xuan Ji"! 20:38 yes, Ming Guang's actual name is "Pei Ming" (the elder Pei) 26:13 it went by kind of quick, but Pei Jr's name is "Pei Xiu" (sometimes I also see it spelled at Pei Su, but the official book translation uses Xiu) 28:02 just fyi the multi face disease is more commonly translated as "Human Face Disease" (I know you have a lot to remember but mainly just wanted to bring it up in case other comments refer to it as that😅) 31:27 fun fact, imprisoning ghosts/demons under mountains is a very common trope in xianxia (Chinese fantasy) lol! as for why it's a common trope I honestly don't know bwahaha you'll have to continue to be patient about the butterfly man... but you will learn more about him I promise >:3

This was ndeed a nice short arc to get us started! I think it was particularly useful to let us know there will be death in the story (despite having a main character that seems so calm and low-profile 😮), and that it isn't afraid of situations where there isn't a clear black and white. I like that we have different representations of women in the first 3 episodes: a tired accountant adult (maybe ancient?), a sweet, brave and responsable teen, and a strong general turned into murderer. It might seem irrelevant to some but oh boy it's difficult to find an asian animation with a male protagonist that have distintive and well-formed female characters. Only one of the 3 talked about love, none talked about family, none is particulary an "angel" or a "demon", and two have jobs in areas that are traditionally pressumed to be masculine. One could say the same about male representation but pretty men with long hair wasn't/isn't a big deal in Asia as far as I'm aware. It's actually a western type of sexism. What it is relevant is how the main character seems powerful and smart but has no arrogance, and is willing to help but is also quick to establish limits (like when the two junior where fighting in the temple). Seems like a healthy masculinity to me! Mmhh what else can I add? I won't go into details since not much is said at the moment. But I'll write down an extract of that very last part of the episode (no more, no less) since the donghua had to make what was behind the bandages less obvious: "On the face of the boy, as Xie Lian had first suspected, there was a field of serious burn scars. Except, beneath the bloody scars, there were traces of three to four tiny faces. Those faces were no bigger than the palms of a baby, and they were scattered croockedly across his cheeks and forehead. After being burnt, the features on each tiny face were shriveling in pain, as if screaming in agony. The sight of theres weird, screaming faces sweezing and squirming on a regular huamn face was indeed more horrifying that any demon! Xie Lian felt as thought he was plunged into a nightmare the instant he saw this boy's face. A fear so inmmense paralyzed him until he couldn't recall standing up, nor tell what the expression on his face was [...]" I looove to hear your theories! Keep them coming! Oh, I get you regarding expesive shipping... 😓😓 Sorry that there was no Butterfly Man this episode! But like you said it is hilarious to think he might have been looking from a distance while blushing and thinking "I'm not cleaning this hand EVER AGAIN" 😂😂 See you next video 🥰🥰

17:00 Xuan Ji, the ghost bride, actually take the skull out of his head and crushed it, it was bad but reconforting. General Pei Junior's name is Pei Xiu (pronunce su). The flashback on the final is the doom of the kingdom of Xie Lian, one (of many causes) was this plague. This is chinese mythology, human can cultivate (meditation, martial arts, etc) and ascend as a god, but if one died with regets or hate they can become a ghost/demon. This is because they will have a lot of "bad" energy, objects and beast expose to these energy became monsters. Also, this is explain ahead, gods when get expell from heaven can became ghost/demon or just be a "mortal" person.
