What’s the movie The Wedding Planner about?
Single Mary (Jennifer Lopez from Maid in Manhattan and Hustlers) organizes other people's wedding ceremonies. One day, while crossing the street, the heel of one of her shoes gets stuck in a sewer grate, just as a garbage truck is speeding towards her. A handsome man saves her from certain death. His name is Peter and he is a doctor.
Once recovered, Mary is blindsided by Penny (Judy Greer from What Women Want and 27 Dresses) who arranges a date with Steve (Matthew McConaughey from Interstellar and Dazed and Confused) at an outdoor party. For the first time in years, Mary finds herself enjoying the company of a person of the opposite sex. She believes she has finally found the right man.
The next day, Mary is hired to arrange a lavish wedding for Fran Donolly (Bridgette Wilson), a rich and temperamental girl. But the future husband turns out to be Peter…

Ladies, this is how to reject a man who is already in a committed relationship. Not only did Mary show respect for Fran, she also showed respect for herself. This scene could’ve gone an entirely different way if Mary was an ounce less of the women she is.

@@silverkitty2503 He was taking care of her after she ran into her ex, and his now pregnant wife who he cheated on her with when they were engaged. Neither party had any nefarious intentions. She was drunk and he was just trying to make sure she got home safe.

This movie is so underrated. I love how much honor Mary has. She had too much respect for herself and Fran to even kiss Steve until the very end of the movie

I applaud Mary for what she did. Eventually she and Steve got together in the end but this moment was not the right timing. And she had dignity to not wreck another couple’s union in progress. Good job Mary ❤

Mary should have ran... I mean this guy already has a fiance and he is trying to start something with Mary? Break if off with Fran if you really have doubts. I almost threw up when he said "I know the curves of your face." Disgusting.

Have you actually watched the movie? Because he *did* address his doubts with Fran, and she admitted she didn’t want to get married either. They mutually called off the wedding. Steve isn’t a bad guy. He’s flawed, obviously, as all human beings are, but there’s nothing in his characterization that suggests he had any intention of cheating on Fran. He just wanted to know if Mary was feeling what he was feeling too. Had she said yes, I believe he would have been honest with Fran and they would have called off the wedding sooner. If you think Steve was “trying to start something” then you’ve missed the entire point of the movie, as well as his speech here. He *wasn’t* trying to start anything, neither was Mary, but it started anyway from the moment they met.

@@ForeverSweetx3 Again, you’ve missed the entire point. Steve was not trying to flirt with Mary or be with Mary. Every interaction they had while he was engaged was either him saving her life, him accepting gratitude for saving her life, or them working together to plan the wedding. He wasn’t seeking her out. They just kept getting thrown together and getting closer each time that happened. Feelings are not logical or controllable. Only actions are, and neither he nor Mary actually pursued anything inappropriate while he was engaged to Fran. Hence flawed but not bad.

@@Book_Dragon2562 Dude, you missed the entire point. He said to her "I keep thinking about that night in the park!" He was still engaged at that point. That is crossing the line and pretty bad.
