xpt0 Why wouldn’t you cry? She was forced into something she didn’t know is what she didn’t want. Following traditions and into and unhappy marriage. Forced to lose her virginity. Forced to be silent. He didn’t listen. Her family didn’t listen. She had no friends. No one to talk to. By the time the audition comes around, she’s free. She has friends. When she auditions, she doesn’t have to hide. She doesn’t have to be silent. My reasonings aren’t that strong, but I cried like a baby.

During the wedding scenes, I couldn’t help but notice how they intentionally try to cover up the bride and draw less attention to her, instead shining the spotlight only on the husband and the men in the ceremony. @@lizahope1233 I have no doubt that people can be happy in your community. But like any community, the questions arise when someone feels like they don't exactly fit, which happens everywhere, all the time. In some communities, most people around them will adapt, in others most will not. In this case, the woman who left very obviously was not happy there. Her husband sucks, they are both too young to actually know who they are and what works for them in a relationship. And she's under even more pressure because of her health problems. Others are very happy around her. Because they managed to fit. She didn't, and felt like she had to leave because of this. The question is not "do people get to be happy there?". It's "what are their options when they don't ? ".

I would recommend finding books with a different perspective on what an Orthodox Jewish life is. There are a lot of online resources also available that explain in depth the theological principles and philosophies that guide us. It is very sad to see that most portrayals of Jewish Orthodox life in the media are characterized by unhappy, abusive marriages when there are also magnificent stories of love, strength, resilience and faith. There are multiple Rabbis with multiple opinions and if this one seems too strict for you, there are other groups that are not so strict and still follow the Halacha (Jewish law) without abusing anybody or making anybody miserable.

I watched this last night. Unorthodox is the portrayal of the swarmy, seedy, underbelly of the secret society of the Hassidics. This secret sect and their enslavement of child brides is just a part of the disgusting behavior of this sect acting as agents of God. They are very similar to the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints, except the Hassidim import millions of doses of illegal narcotics, such as ecstasy, into the USA every year. And when the Hassidim are not busy smuggling drugs and making billions of dollars on their drugs that pollute and destroy the neighborhoods of New York City and others, they are illegally shipping stolen precious stones across international borders, think Blood Diamonds and making billions of dollars. The Hassidim do not pay any taxes on any of these illegal activities, obviously. They are protected by the politicians and the medial whom they buy off and own like so many other things. Yes, this is the true picture of the Hassidics.

Why were they happy at first when they got married, but then became very unhappy? What caused her to become unhappy and miserable? I find their strict lives and culture in their own Jewish communities fascinating, and I've never known much about it before. I've been wondering why jews have always been so hated. Have they ever actually done anything to make people hate them so much and want to wipe them out? I'm really just curious. They've been targeted since biblical times.

This story is supposed to reflect the experience of one individual, who essentially had a difficult home life (her mother left). They have marital problems (she has vaginismus) and for some reason they don't deal, though in the book it says they fixed it , she runs away to Berlin where her estranged mom lives. She experiences a non-Jewish lifestyle and chooses that over religion.
@sarahgrape26512 жыл бұрын
I think people opt out of dealing with their personal demons, or with the people who oppress them (though oppress may be a tad dramatic). Instead they collect G-d and the whole Jewish people, and religion into one neat pile, label it fundamentalism, or something similar.
@sarahgrape26512 жыл бұрын
