Love this place. Being a native So Cal. I've been here many times, even fished off the end of the Balboa jetty in the background. Fun to watch the wipeouts. This place gets huge waves very often.

Now imagine movie from Seattle as a 17 year old, living in the building in front of Balboa Pier and hearing a bout The Wedge. Then deciding to go body surfing. Yeah, exactly, the bottom dropped out, I land straight on my face in the sand and heard every bone in my neck crack. Not fun and didn't go back for awhile.
