Charlie (Chadwick) Bishop spoke about insurance in one of his videos. His point was related to how our layouts are valued for home insurance purposes. Grumpy's right: insurance adjusters will just pay for the materials, locos & rolling stock, not the hours taken to build & maintain it, or its sentimental & emotional value. Private owner wagons are fun, but their heyday was prior to the 1923 pre-grouping. After that, the Big Four started to replace them with their own wagons, in order to improve the quality of the rolling stock and thus the reliability of services, both freight & passenger, as the private owner wagons were not well maintained, built to a myriad of standards, and frequently broke down and caused delays. So, whilst some would have survived into BR days they'd have probably been painted either into Big Four colours or Wartime Black. And if you really want to go down a rabbit hole, check out loco lamp codes, which indicated the type of train to the signallers, from Express to Slow Freight trains. I don't think you'll have any problems with your speech. Your work to encourage women into the hobby is well worth sharing.
