My Mum was a young housewife then, in Catford, she told us this story , especially the fact that the bomber was so close you could see his face !

In a box from my wife's grandparents home, I found a newsclip among the old letters and papers. Someone had written "your cousin" above the picture of a little girl Lydia Parfitt age 10 .. found by her father hospitalized with a broken leg.. next to her a picture of Pamela Silmon age 10 listed as still missing . by researching her name and the memorial, I realized that this clip was about this same incident.. We do not know if Lydia is still living.. I found a Lydia Parfitt born in 1933

Some London schools were used as a base for the auxiliary fire service during WW2. The german's advised that the schools may become targets if this continued. No excuse for the bombing even at war time.
