Probably made em. Ableton lets you modify sounds pretty easily. Other daws probably do too. Im guessing he just took basic tr808's and added some spice.

MPC Beats should be free with the purchase of your MK3. You'll have to provide the serial number of your MK3 to download the software. KZbin and AKAI have a bunch of tutorial videos to show you how to use MPC Beats. It's a fun DAW.

There's a button on the left that reads "full level", try to press it and then try the pads. If it doesn't help than it can be the keyboard faulty.
