Oh man, it took me a re-watch to realize *that's* what was bothering me so much. There's another bit in here where both of them look at the TARDIS with Angels in the shot, and I suddenly realized that they couldn't move because the audience was watching. It made us, the viewers, a part of the plot without ever pointing it out.

I love how the 4th wall is broken: weeping angels stop moving when a characters looking at them but also when the one who watch this episode see them (like when the light turned on/off, no characters could see them, only us) that's an impressive details it's like you have an impact on them but also maybe they can have an impact on you...
@Blazieth2 жыл бұрын
A few later episodes add more levels of horror to the Weeping Angels, but the trick is that they also start to break this "fourth wall" rule of sight. People act like the extra rules about them make them so much *more* terrifying even from beyond the fourth wall, but the fact that they break the sight rule completely kills it. If they can move while the viewers are looking at them, we have no effect on them, and thus they have no effect on us. When we, the viewers, could stop them moving just as surely as anyone in-universe, they maintained that subtle level of "Yup, they're real and could get you, too". But once we no longer impact them, that's lost and they're just another TV monster.

@@pogigwapo5093 Think of it like this. Why would Angels go after Daleks? They’re creatures bred or created for war, they serve no other functions except to purify the universe. That’s not a lot of potential energy for Angels to consume. Daleks can’t even really die unless they are killed, seeing as when they grow inferior they are stuffed beneath Skaro’s cities in the “sewers”. Angels cannot determine when someone will die, and they can’t bank on the chance of a Dalek getting killed unless the Doctor is around. Here's a strategy for when Larry was in the same room as the one angel in the beginning. As soon as it freezes, just walk around it and stand on the other side of the room, then blink. It moves fast but first it has to waste time looking around the room for you, then moving towards you. It couldn't know that you stepped behind it while it was stone because it was not alive the whole time you were watching it. Then repeat by continuously moving behind it whenever you have to blink. Boom, you've just outmanuvered a weeping angel

2 things, 1: look at the way the angels are standing, the front 2 are looking at eachother, the back left is looking at the front right, the back right is looking at the front left, but none are looking at the back left or back right, in theory, they can move. 2: if they are quantum locked when being observed, they aren't living anymore, and if they aren't living, they aren't being observed by a living thing meaning they can move, but then as they're moving, they're living and therefore can't move, it would be a constant cycle of can move, can't move....this could be the case but they would still budge a tiny bit in the scene.

Technically, even if they're quantum locked while being observed, they're still alive, they just freeze into stone as part of their natural biological defense. But because they're quantum locked if they're looking at each other, they'll never move again and will eventually starve, turning into real statues as they wouldn't be able to live without potential energy from zapping victims into the past.

Each time I looked up to observe, a weeping angel appeared and moved closer. My conscious brain set in and was yelling at me to wake up and open my eyes but I was trapped dreaming and they were everywhere getting closer and closer.
