Quite difficult to put each frame through the same set of impacts but I do appreciate the real world testing because you cannot easily simulate the impact + rotation after impact of the structure on the bench. Ultimately, the survivability of the frame is related to how it dissipates the energy since we seldom crash in a dead stop. On another note, I'm quite perplexed at how a typical price for a 5" frames these days before tax and shipping is ~$90. I just released the 8mm Glide which generally targets high strength for it's low 115g weight but not specifically strength first. I would be interested to add it to this bunch but holy moly do you have a ton of work ahead of you... I'm intrigued and wish you the energy to keep going. Few realize how much work is involved with all this. It does seem like it'll be a very interesting content stream. Happy to introduce you to various sources to have components donated for the purpose of these videos in order to save on the cost you'll endure too. I'm sure many still think KZbin pays real money but it's really just a few pennies unfortunately. There's no bias in accepting free parts from manufacturers. You can badmouth whatever you like and they almost never care. I've done it for years but I also recognize when something is actually good.
@PhantomFPV9 ай бұрын
Wow! Humbled @Kabab! I’ll certainly take you up on that offer because you’re 100% correct. It’s something I’ve always longed for in the community and could never find it so I figured, I’ll just do it for the community so it’s data others can benefit from including me. However, it’s going to be crazy time consuming and expensive. I’ll definitely take you up on that offer including adding yours to the bunch.
@Kabab9 ай бұрын
@@PhantomFPV I'm happy to send you some of my motors but I can't really afford like 50 motors. I would expect you would need 50 or maybe even more. If someone was paying to do this, at least we make a point to sell the bells as easily as we sell the motor itself but no matter what it's going to be expensive. I'll contact a couple people and see what I can get for you

115g! I struggle to get my frames under 130g. I have a couple of frames I'm currently working on that I'd love to shed some weight. The frame already has your motors on it, if you wouldn't mind giving any feedback lol. So far, I'm impressed. Even after a couple of concrete walls, the motors still spin smoothly.
@Kabab9 ай бұрын
@@Quadwrex much of it comes from experience of just dealing with loads of designs over years. The rest comes from a sort of intuition on how something will break and how you're using the carbon fiber material. There is a very pronounced grain to carbon fiber. Best to use it in ways to take advantage of that grain
@Kabab9 ай бұрын
My gosh if I had 200g to make a 5" frame it would have monstrous strength. I just looked at my 8mm Glide design and if I made the main plates 3mm thick it would only add 14g to the structure and bring the total weight to only 129g. I had no idea people were designing 200g frames. You really have your work cut out for you to get any of these to actually break. I would assume you'll likely demolish motors and cameras at a far higher pace than you will frames. At least go one frame at a time. When the frame breaks, just scoot the build over to the next frame. Replace busted parts along the way. This way you can also get a noise profile for each frame as you go because it's the exact same build from one to the next. This is often what I do when I test frames but I don't destroy anything. It's literally the same exact build lifted and plopped onto the next iteration of the design or even across designs. Super high strength is just not on my radar at all. High reliability is #1 to me followed by quality of life.
@StR8KiLLA_FPV9 ай бұрын
Yeah and on the other end of the spectrum the quadmula split mini comes in at 91 grams and I compare them to og apex in strength all day long.

Thanks so much for all that feedback @Kabab! Really appreciate you stopping by. I’m planning to test exactly as you’ve outlined. Tip for the Syncmode, with O3 remember to print the "Forward" cam adapter so (if you fly Wide 4:3 like me) you won't have any prop in view, at least with 4934, with 5.1" you may still see the tips. You may not mind the props, but the less you have the better is for the audience😁. Also, if you want to save some weight, like me, don't print the Air Unit TPU, I prefer to attach it with double-sided tape and a zip tie (it holds really well). With Titanium screws I'm at 610ish Gr with GNB LIHV1100Mah and I run the Bando boots with motor protections. I look forward to hearing your take on this comparison, great idea!

@@PhantomFPV oh boy, cant wait! im anxious for the results! Jack's beefy Triton is available 8mm arms now, which is what i was referring to, but i don't like that there is no center key between the arms to lock it together, just didn't seem as locked together like a demibot or apex, I got the it's fpv era... It breaks the arms inside the frame, that was hitting soft dit, very disappointing... The demibot center key system is my favorite, but it lacks standoffs and breaks the rear plate due to battery weight flexing it, ive never had a tanq, but my favorite frame is a demibot clone with real demibot replacement arms, its cheaper but has been most durable thing ive owned to date...
