his will definitely seem entirely out of left field. You don't have to believe me. And that's the beauty of it. And yes. I wrote all of this. If you'll do me one favor. At least send this to anyone else who may understand. You don't have to. And that's the beauty of it. This comment was originally posted by me for askyouruncle on his mgsv sucks and I love it full comp, his ac revelations vid, and the community post he made not to long ago about ac 3 running on computers in Boston. This is the same comment but it applies to you and everyone, trust me. Everyone should know the TRUTH about life. The TRUTH is... YOU And me. All of us. True freedom is a declaration of independence from everything. Good, evil, yourself, others, God(hear me out), and to know this grants us true freedom and that is beautiful. And to do the right thing, to be good, to follow God, not in spite of but because of this... that is true good, true righteousness. Everything is permitted but that doesn't mean we SHOULD do everything. The TRUTH is everything. About reality, ourselves, the good and the parts we tell ourselves is the horn. It's always just been us. To know yourself and to trust yourself is true peace. That is the path. Not to fight entropy, but to accept that it and everything else is the natural way of reality and humans and we have the freedom to govern our reality. That is the meaning of life. Thank you. Without you, and God, and all the other people and influences and thoughts and actions in my life would I have been able to figure this out. You have done something truly special Joey. You can rest now. Thank you all. Thank God. I love God and I love all of you. Yes. Even specifically you. I may never have met you but I know: Whoever you are you have the power inside you to find this truth. THE TRUTH. Godspeed. Truly- FC P.S Ocelot was on the phone with Vidic and he also narrated PW. I cannot believe you forgot the coolest part of the kelpie myth, in that you can tell if a horse is a kelpie by looking at its hooves. Kelpies have backwards facing hooves, so even IF the horse looks like its facing away from water, it can immediately start galloping towards it anyways :D And that the mating of a kelpie and a regular horse results in offspring that is impossible to drown! @toastle80057 ай бұрын
@@sonofsparda657 no, they’re bloodthirsty, matted fur of a much darker grey/brown, and much bigger. Their claws are surprisingly sharp for arboreal creatures, and they are exclusively ambush predators. A koala dropping out of a tree by accident will hurt you, like a furry coconut. If the sheer impact of a Dropbear doesn’t kill you, it will finish the job in the next few seconds. Stick to the farm fields, and don’t wander the bush where the tree boughs grow thickest. …they’re also used as a terrific thing to say dead-pan to tourists, and it seems to be a beautiful collective moment of consciousness among Australians to all agree, without question or laughter, that dropbears exist when we are asked, like the country’s largest wordless in-joke. I’ve seen many an example of camp site signs that warn of koala-like shapes with tremendous claws and fangs. The idea of a living furry hissing cannonball falling out of a tree to attack you without warning is also just inherently hilarious to think about, and it is one of the running jokes I am most proud of my country for.

Around where I live, there are two "cryptids". One is of a catfish in our local lake who made it's home in an old car dumped in the water, and has gotten so big it can't escape, and lives by opening its mouth and waiting for things to come in. Another one isn't a living thing, but a ghost train. My town had a huge train fire, which permanently destroyed the line and resulted in the town's prosperity declining since the 50s. You can still hear train horns sometimes--this is due to the sound carrying from a nesrby town's track, depending on the wind. But it's still a strange vibe to suddenly hear a quiet train horn in a place with no train.

I searched around for a bit and it is called a Xooch' in Mayan, a barn owl in english. In the Maya Yucatec spirituality they are seen as messengers of Mitnal and it is believed that their screech is announcing death, they are seen as a manifestation of Yuum Cimil as well.

In Polish and Lithuanian folklore, there is the story of the Aitwar (I- eet- var). It's a chicken headed orange dragon that has claws which spark when it hits them together. It is nocturnal and from a distance looks like a shooting star due to its giant firery wings and the sparks flying behind it. The Aitwar was fully nocturnal and when the sun rose, it would fly down peasant's chimney's and rest wherever it could find space, most often in barns or large living rooms. It would often steal odd belongings(clothes, farm tools, and surprisingly, clover flowers) from neighbours and bring it back to his unwilling hosts. It is seen as a trickster spirit who often got people into trouble unwillingly in the way that a cat brings you dead mice or knocks over a glass.

As a fan of yours from South Africa, it's so cool seeing you talk about the Grootslang! I absolutely agree with you that it's not used enough, but that's mostly due to the fact it's localised to only a small area of the country and doesn't have many stories surrounding it. The messiness of it might come from the fact that it's a story passed through a few different languages and groups of people, so they all have slightly different views on it from what I know. I did actually start work on a project based on it a while ago, might have to return to that now that I think about it. The sidehill gouger is very similar to the local cryptid of where I grew up, in the French Alps, called the Dahu: It's a mountain goat that evolved legs shorter on one side to walk the mountainsides more effectively. The game is to take a group of tourists and tell them about the Dahu, and get them to go hunt it: One must first spot the tracks of the Dahu, then walk in the opposite direction (clockwise or counter-clockwise around the mountain) while banging pots and pans to make a lot of noise. The noise is supposed to scare the Dahu who will try to run away, but since it would be opposite of his natural walking direction, it would fall down and be unable to stand up again due to its short-legs side being on the downhill side. Then the tourists can pick it up easily. It's a long-running legend and prank to play on tourists, funny to see it crossed the pond to USA

In the Black Hills of South Dakota we have snipe, a bird with legs shorter on one side so when they get surprised they run around in circles. You tell young kids to bang pots and pans to lure them in, and wave flashlights around to scare them, and while they’re running in circles, you catch them by throwing a basket on them. I may have been tricked into doing that by my dad and uncles one deer season when I was 10

In Brazil we also have 3 other folklore creatures that would be cool additions to the Iceberg. Saci Pererê: A one legged man or teen that only wears a red hood and a red short and he stalks the forests of Brazil punishing those whose inflict damages to it or playing harmless pranks in those that take good care of it In a more deadly twist, a similar idea is the Mula Sem Cabeça, a horse like creature with reversed hooves that is headless, in its place is a constant flame, aways ablaze, and when you destroy the forests you gain its attention and it will put part of the forest on fire, but only to chase you, the fire wont spread uncontrollably and will lead you straight to it, where it will burn you alive. The last creature is the Boto Cor-de-Rosa. Botos are species of Dolphins that can inhabit in Freshwater, they are common to the Amazon region, the special think about the Cor-de-Rosa, or pink, is that during full moon nights, it can rise out of the water and it becomes an incredibly handsome man. And during the full moon it goes around impregnating as many maidens as possible

The picture at 37:42 is actually a painting of a creature from old Norwegian folklore called "Nøkken". Its appearance is like a pile of twigs in the surface of a pond, but it can shapeshift to either a horse or beautiful woman/man. It lures people to the edge and drags them under. It can also take people swimming in the water. The myth came from people swimming among waterlilies and tangling their feet in their long stems. The waterlilie's plant family is actually named after the myth. (Nøkkerosefamilien = Nøkken-rose-family) The artist that made the painting of the horse also made a painting of the "real" thing. (copy-paste the name from the top to see it)

the congo snake makes way more sense than the "megaconda" because the congo's longest snake is like 4 feet long and is the only large rainforest environment to not have a large constrictor snake. the megaconda is also dumb because in the Amazon the largest animal is the manatee which is only 800 pounds while the largest animal in the congo is the eastern bush elephant at 6 tons. because of the evidence i presented I request that the megaconda is moved to c or d teir

I can't agree honestly, if the megaconda eats manatees then it's probably around a 60 foot tree trunk thick behemoth with plate like scales. A literal waterborne ambush dragon, it's beyond horrifying. Imagine if it has even a dog like brain.

@@cale1523 in the amazon jaguars, sharks, and crocodiles all prey on manitees. and there is no super sharks or super jaguars in the amazon. the largest of manitees grow to about 1200 pounds (0.6 tons) and are about 9.8 feet in length, about 4 feet in width. all of that is on the higher end. why on gods green earth would it need to be have a 60 foot diameter to hunt something that is 4 feet wide. the only tree trunk i know that gets that thicc is fucking redwoods. my house is 60 feet wide. 60 would be a lot for the congo elephants which get to be about 7 feet wide, 10 feet tall, 24 feet long, and 6.5 tons.

Wendigoon should hear about the washerwoman (also known as the Bean-Nighe) from Scottland myths, it's about this grotesque elderly washerwoman that sits on riverbanks cleaning bloodied clothes of those who will die, constantly wailing in agony. There was a story I heard where a little girl saw one and when she tried to run away, the washerwoman whipped her by the legs with the cloth and the girl became paralyzed till her mother (or father) found her. She died the next day in her bed.

I wonder what he'd think of the Alaskan Tizheruk. While another giant sea snake, it's got some interesting attributes. Not only is it completely invisible, but it can condense itself down to be able to travel in extremely shallow water. The idea of being far inland and still fearing that an unseen sea creature could be in the river next to you and grab you with its long, whip-like tongue is pretty creepy.

Its probably on the list further down, but if you're including Scottish folklore you have to include the Nuckelavee. A horse and rider fused together with unnaturally long arms and no skin. Lives in the ocean until the winter when he can come to land, bringing sickness and death, absolutely hates humanity. The nuckelavee is a certified banger of a creature, and if Kelpies make the list, I think he should too

@wingerding No, its Soggoth. "So" is Soggoth's conjoined twin. He hates the goth style but has to put up with it every day. Yog (their father) told So that Soggoth was born goth, but So was having none of it. So So was so mad that So called his uncle Cthulu and nobody ever heard from Yog again. It's important to get their names right. Their family dynamic formed the backbone of the Tudor Dynasty, but nobody talks about it anymore. Which is sad because if Yog hadnt been so goth that he told So that Soggoth was born goth, H.P. Lovecraft never would've discovered America.

In college I took a course on monsters throughout literature and we covered the Cynocephali. My professor theory based on her research was that this was actually a nomadic people. They were merchants and highly charismatic. When meeting groups or civilizations some persecuted them and told stories of these people being 'animal like', how they only cared for gold and could talk you out of or into anything. We see this done to other cultures throughout history, like to the Jewish and to those from India, as they're given animalistic characteristics and personalities.

The sidehill gouger sounds like the american haggis. A story told to tourists that the food haggis is made from an animal of the same name. They feature legs of different lengths, as well as various tall tales of how they are hunted, my favourite of which you trap them with lettuce, white pepper, and a brick. You put the lettuce on a brick and sprinkle it with the pepper, the haggis is lured to the lettuce and sniffs it, the white pepper causes them to sneeze, and they knock themselves out on the brick.
