Titans fan here. Couple things the video left out: titans actually beat the steelers in week 16 to secure the no. 1 seed. But their season ended as painfully as you can imagine as they lost to rookie joe flacco by three points in a brutal defensive struggle after the offense turned the ball over four times in scoring range. Ouch

Drew Brees finished 16 yards short of breaking Dan Marino’s passing yardage record. They were out of the playoffs but looking to play seed spoiler against the Panthers, but couldn’t get the win or the record in the finale. That Saints team also played a game in the Superdome on October 12, then didn’t play there again until November 24. London game, bye week, and back-to-back road games kept them away from home for over a month. They’d investigate the schedule writers if that happened in these times.

2010 was also a weird season. Two teams that were great the previous year didn't even make the playoffs (Cowboys and Vikings). Four teams who were hyped up as Super Bowl contenders didn't even win a playoff game (Eagles, Falcons, Saints, and Patriots). The 7-9 Seahawks won a playoff game over the Defending Champion Saints. And to top it all off, 2 10-6 teams missed the playoffs (Buccaneers and Giants) and the 10-6 team that made it basically backed into the spot (but still won the Super Bowl) because the Buccaneers lost at home to the Lions.

To be fair, with the overtime rules that were in place during his career from 1999-2010, games rarely ended in ties. More on the Cardinals that season. It was well known that the Cards didn't travel well based on their losses at Washington, at Jets(in which I was in attendance), at Philly on Thanksgiving night, at New England(all of these were blowouts) and at Carolina. Their only road wins were at the hapless Seahawks and Rams making their 2008 road record 2-6 but in the divisional playoff game at Carolina they used the Panthers as a chew toy and, as Kurt Warner put it, "shocked the world" 33-13. The reason being is that Larry Fitzgerald was absolutely unconscious in those playoffs catching 30 passes for 546 yards and 7 TD's setting a playoff record that still stands today. Man that team was both fun and infuriating at the same time. Sadly, losing the Super Bowl with 40 seconds left is the most Cardinal thing they could have done.

Cowboys also, started 4-1, then Romo broke his hand in overtime loss to cardinals. Then cowboys started to collapse, T.O started complaining to the media, then Romo came back playing with a cast and started winning. Then removed his cast and they lost the last 2 games. Nfc east was stacked that year. None of them had a losing record, Giants, eagles and redskins had top 5 defenses also.

I always rooted against the Pats, but I will say that New England missing the playoffs that year was absolute BS. I don't care that SD won their division. They were 8-8. Divisions should only be for ease of scheduling. Playoff eligibility should get determined by record alone.

More weirdness: because the Titans had a really good season at 13-3, many people assume that this is the season that Chris Johnson rushed for over 2000 yards and set the still standing single-season all purpose yards record over 2500. Nope, in '08 he was sharing snaps with LenDale White, and that limited Johnson's attempts some. The record breaking season was the next one, 2009. The same year that the Titans went 8-8 and had the notorious 59-0 blowout loss in New England... Yep, that season. I hate the discourse on how running backs are becoming obsolete, because I think a great RB can hide some iffy flaws in other parts of the team. But, when your RB has an insane, record breaking season and your team can't even get a winning record or a playoff birth, it makes me think that maybe the RB haters have a point.
@scaryvalidation

If the Titans want to get over the hump, they must avoid a 13-3 season record and must avoid facing the Ravens at home. 2000 Titans 13-3 lost against Ravens in the divisional playoffs. 2008 same story.

2009, the season that Fisher was refusing to play Vince Young. It took them going 0-6 and losing 59-0 for the owner to finally force Fisher to bench Collins and put Vince Young in who then went 6-2.

@@thecensoredmuscle563 Yep, that season. I'm still mad about that. Collins should've been benched after 0-3 at the latest. Young may have had an "attitude problem", but it takes two to tango. Fisher had an equal sized one against him.
