They tend to bury themselves in the mud on real clear bright summer days to avoid birds that’s why targeting them on clear days is a pain you honestly got super lucky with this catch! It definitely looks that way considering the way his tail looks at 11:35 his tail looks like he was making a bed (like a male bass)so he was definitely kicking mud up recently I don’t think snakeheads make beds on the bottom like bass and bluegill do I could be wrong tho I only know of fry balls and I haven’t seen to many this year When I target snakeheads 90% of them I catch in 1-4ft of water in soft mud or wood bottoms in coves like this one (I have caught them on rock bottoms and in open water 2 but not many) These spatterdock fields they have back in there off the de are loaded with them I fish this waters on a daily basis

Thanks for checking out the video! I really appreciate your comment. I can tell from your comment you are really passionate about catching these fish which is exactly how I am as well. I think you are right that he was buried in the mud. I didn't realize they did that but after doing some research I've found multiple sources that discuss their ability to burrow. I've had a similar experience to you. Each of my snakehead catches have been in water with muddy bottoms and less than 4 feet. I'll give you some insider information. In the next 2 weeks I'll be releasing more snakehead fishing videos. I just need to finish editing them! I appreciate you watching the video!

Whoa… that honestly is such a weird sequence… so you think you’re snagged, switch rods to enjoy and that monster was just chillin on there the whole time? I’m just shocked the line didn’t snap when you went on the trail for leverage or all that time it was hooked it didn’t run your combo into the water. Crazy stuff, what a unique catch! Man, you weren’t kidding about the bass in that spot, that and the perch were some nice gets as well. I keep hearing great things about that spot, def gotta get up there this summer at some point myself.

Haha I honestly think you are right. I think he was on the entire time and I just had no idea!

Crazy catch. I've been there a couple times, but somehow I seem to have missed where that pipe is at both times. Gonna have to look harder next time I go lol.

Haha right?! It's the craziest thing. I honestly still have no idea what happened. I'm thinking he may have lodged himself into the mud.

Yup I got at least 50 bucks worth of lures invested in the same spot you lost one in lol

Haha it's def a risk vs reward spot. There's nice fish there but you always risk losing your lure!

Thanks man! I know you've caught a few snakeheads. Have you ever had anything similar to that happen to you before?

What a weird catch 😅 maybe you caught it before and it wrapped itself around the log?! Weird, but nice one! Went to JH last week, only one bass, but got like 20+ MONSTER bluegill (they fight like crazy)!

Man... I still can't figure out what the heck happened lol. I'm thinking he was never in the log and just buried himself in the mud.

Thanks for checking out the video! I have a few videos where I am bass fishing here. This year has been a little tough for bass. I would suggest using soft baits like plastic worms or hellgrammites. I've also caught more bass this year on my smaller lures!
