The West Papua National Committee, a political organization of the Papuan people or a group of Papuan people campaigning for the independence of the State of West Papua, released the results of the 6th KNPB Meeting which was held in Kamwaolker, Jayapura West Papua, on (20/5/2024). In accordance with normal mechanisms within the organization, the KNPB has held its 6th Leadership Meeting in Port Numbay, West Papua, from 13-15 May 2024. A total of 32 regional administrators and Consulates participated in discussing and deciding various situations, both the internal situation of the organization, the situation of oppression and the struggle of the Papuan people internationally and national. Thus, the KNPB issued the following stance:
1. Seeing the massive threat of Indonesian colonialism in West Papua, with patterns and strategies of divide and rule that make the threat of genocide, ecocide and ethnocide increasingly real, Rapim reiterates that national liberation is an urgent agenda for the Papuan people. Therefore, we call on the Papuan people to increase solidarity in the collective struggle, anticipate patterns of division from the colonialists and participate in organizing themselves in political and sectoral struggle organizations in the land of Papua.
2. KNPB continues to encourage open consolidation from within and outside the country through PRP, ULMWP Pre-Summit, ULMWP Summit and ULMWP Working Meeting. In its development, we see that there have been various enemy infiltrations and there has been no good will from several foreign and domestic leaders to unite in coordinating structures and agendas. Apart from the lack of clear detection and firm resistance to attempts at division managed by the enemy, this is also more due to changes in the form of the ULMWP. from open (coordinative) democracy to semi-constitutional (U U D S) to the Declaration of a Provisional Government, where factional political ambitions play a bigger role than prioritizing the consolidation of greater unity of struggle.
3. The KNPB considers that both the ULMWP as the official result of the ULMWP Summit in Vanuatu and the unilateral Congress of the ULMWP Provisional Government each adhere to the same form of Constitution (U U D S) even though they are only differentiated by the name of organization and government.
4. Seeing the dynamics of the latest ULMWP, the Rapim decided that KNPB should get out of this situation and take a permanent position as national media outside of ULMWP as a result of the official summit in Vanuatu and the results of the temporary government's unilateral congress in Sentani. By acting as a media, the KNPB will play roles in mediating all divisions of struggle, both at home and abroad, namely by actively building coordination between all parties, participating in joint struggle agendas regardless of their respective factional roots. .
5. In order to coordinate international struggle agendas, both legally and politically, we ask all leaders and diplomats abroad to actively coordinate with each other to unite their lobbying and diplomacy strategies.
6. The Rapim agreed to encourage the Nieuw Guinea Raad (NGR) as a democratic institution to remain within the ULMWP so that it can play its role in conveying the ideas of united struggle within the ULMWP.
7. The Rapim reiterated that the TPNPB is a national liberation army, so the KNPB Rapim decided and requested that the TPNPB continue to increase its defense function for the people and all struggle organizations without the limits of factional politics. Rapim requested that in the guerrilla struggle TPNPB remain consistent in prioritizing humanitarian principles in accordance with humanitarian law.
8. RAPIMNAS KNPB views that President-elect Prabowo is a symbol of the continuation of colonialism, capitalism and militarism in the land of Papua. KNPB together with the Papuan people will not remain silent. The Papuan people will rise to continue their struggle in peace and dignity. Therefore, we ask for the solidarity of the people of Indonesia and the world who love humanity and independence to participate in supporting the national liberation struggle for West Papua. Thus, this press statement is issued for all of our attention. Jayapura, 20 May 2024 Central Executive Board of the West Papua National Committee.
