You mentioned the cheap cost of the rail journey. How much would it cost to experience the whole journey and the length of time it takes?

The full 17 hour journey costs around $150, compared to $230 for a 2 hour flight or $135 for an 11 hour bus ride. The closer you live to Brisbane, the more cost effective it becomes compared to flying.
