Got to play with this band a couple times in the Bay area and it's just so amazing to hear those unreleased tracks

My buddy turned me on to Karp too late to catch them live, but I managed to see The Whip play at the equally-short-lived Blackbird in PDX, sharing the bill with Jarboe(!). They sounded just like everyone'd promised, and it was a dream fulfilled. I'm not sure they were around even a month beyond that point. They were and are "A Great Noise To Behold".

Dude. I am in tears right now. Did not know this existed. It's like... Earthkarp, or Kprth.

I just heard "everybody deserves to eat" on a new quicksilver snowboard edit, keeping it real for the PNW ...as soon as I heard the bass tone I thought "This sounds like early big business". Then Jared started singing and it was unmistakeable. PRetty rad stuff.

This band was criminally short-lived. The shows I got to see in Seattle were mind-blowing and had a totally berserk energy that made me feel like the future of rock was going to be a good one. One day I went to see them at El Corazon only to find that Scott had died in a tragic accident. I heard a rumor that more tracks might be released at some point--I hope that's true!

check out Floor's albums ...ive always said they were heavy pop. soul crushing sound with light spirited well sung lyrics

Pond is another good example, though maybe a couple notches below heavy and a few above on the pop scale. The Youth Splendor 7” specifically comes to my brain. Melvins might’ve been too heavy to qualify. Some 90s stuff of theirs definitely qualifies, however. I’ll also be “that internet idiot guy” by name checking Nirvana’s Smart Sessions as another example. That’s all I’ll say about that one though.

@@MrSherlockDomes checking oblation now...hmm. Not digging the production: mids are really crashy and washed out. Dig that they have a song called Rocinante! And before Expanse came out lol. Bet they're a super band live. This recording is a bummer. hi hat compression is lossy

W/ Fitz of Depression, I believe...At the time, in my 15 yr old brains...I thought “this is creepy metal, w/ the weird curly haired guy!?” Drove to see KARP @ RCKCNDY (Seattle) in 97?, to find out the gig was cancelled...👎🏻 LONG LIVE Scott Jernigan!!🤘🏻🙌🏻 Damn!!!!!

Relentlessly-Unrelenting. Just leave this 7” on your turntable for a month. Wake up. Drop the needle. Do the math. Math is a human construct. This band is why I still wear ear plugs. RIP Scotty. Few smashed as you had. Probably one of my most precious possessions. AKA: breakfast 7-inch! Lars Meow.
