I'm loving the story so far, but having almost half of the dialog in Spanish really makes me feel like I'm missing out on a lot of the story.

I feel very much the same way. The first season was very good about translating and starting it out in their native language but making sure we knew what was being said and going on. I’m beginning to feel a little lost in this season like you said, missing out on a lot of the story.

Honestly you aren’t missing much without understanding Spanish. I myself know less Spanish than Simon (though I know a bit of Latin and Italian so that helps). It’s really just small talk and simple commands.

They found a cave. That no-one has seen in a very long time. If there are any weird artifacts inside, judging by first season, everyone is dead. Lucas seems like he might have orders to "unfortunate accident" these people, either from someone with alot of money and power, or he's being psychically compromised by the glyphs/Eldritch creature. Anyhow that's my wild speculation.

Just a little confused - is season 3 the direct follow-up from Imperial or is it set in a different location?

Season 3 is a continuation of the main story from Season 1 & 2, but it introduces a new location/team. The story is larger than just the Outpost Fristed team, so Seasons 1 & 2 is like the first 'act'. Imperial is a bonus mini-series, and while it is not required for the story, it adds a nice layer and gives an early introduction to Dr. Liu.

right, i understand the appeal of all the characters being from different culteres and bla bla but them having 3-5 sentances in there native laguages without andy kind of trasnlation is just pissing me off becuase im missing out on some small part of these characters no matter how insignificant, even though i understand 1 of them bcz i know the language. I cannot get information in any other way for the story other than the characters voices, (save for transcriptions but fuck that). At least put the translations in the captions or the description. I dont want the gist of it i wanna know exactly what these fictional fucks are saying.

The monolingual people whining in the comments is getting old. Not everything is going to be strictly in English. If you got over the fact that they say words that aren’t in English (oh the horror), you can actually figure out what they’re saying. It’s literally not difficult. At all. Just use linguistics or context clues. Learn something.

I speak 4 languages already and can to figure out the Spanish bits, so that's not why also I don't like the missing translations. Perhaps put yourself into the position of sitting through lengthy bits of speech in a language you don't fully understand. It's not entertaining or pleasant, is it? That's the main issue.

@@MoodusOperandi um…no? I don’t speak Portuguese or Mandarin but whatever they’re saying is either reiterated in English or is reacted to/responded to in English so that you can infer what was said. The translations also aren’t missing. In seasons 1&2, the characters mostly spoke their native language in private (like the recordings when they were talking to the camera or in notes) but would stick with English when they were with the group. Here the only difference is that they speak more Spanish because that’s the national language and all of them know it (save for Simon, Dr. Liu (who is a bit of a last minute addition) and majority of the rescue party) so it would make sense for everything to be in Spanish. The reason it isn’t is because of Simon and Dr. Liu. Lucas’s sections aren’t really meant to be understood because none of the other characters can fully understand him (similar to Carina). The translations are available on their patroon for free if you need to know exactly what they’re saying.

I don't know about "cackling," but I agree that they're pretty unlikable so far; although for me, I think it's the accents, and for you it seems to be that they're a bunch of _uppity "academic" women._ : / lol. I'm guessing at least one of the creators of this show is a woman, and an academic. If the production quality wasn't so high, I might have thought that getting voice actors with thick accents was cheaper or something, but I'm wondering now if maybe it's intentional in order to keep the voices distinct from one another, and not just that they were written that way, or for some other reason. I got used to the accents on season 1 and 2, so I'm sure I'll get used to them here.
