YOD is fire. I'd like to see an analysis of his album TIME. For anyone who hasn't, please consider listening to it

My favorite YOD album before this one.

Yoo, I love What Else. And I think it ties very well with the "WHO" factor of the album, like you said. "You said a lot, and still we know nothing about yourself". In my opinion, he's being critical of rappers that only talk about that one subject, in a vain and uninteresting way. As you know, many rappers talk about this subject without showing their views on life or personality, which is valid, and all underground rap fans like it ( if the skill is there). But I sympathise with the feeling that he his evoking in this track, I think it reaches a point that you to have a voice, like you said, that applies to other subjects. And the truth is, there a lot of underground rappers that are generic as fuck, they're skilled, but their arsenal of subjects and references is very limited. You don't to have to be talking about things that went on in your life, but show us a bit of yourself in the music, everyone like The Wire and The Sopranos, but is that what you chose to base your rap persona in? I'll stop my rambling, love your work, keep at it. Much love from Portugal.

AVAA - I liked this album but my favorite is still DUMP YOD: KRUTOY EDITION. I think this is the album that tells his immigrant story much more than this one, and has a lot of Eastern European samples and audio clips.

Completely agree it’s his best album. Genuine overlooked masterpiece

AVAA What I like about YOD is 1) He's a throwback to Boom Bap rap. 2) He is true to his background while realizing he is a guest in HipHop, 3) That white boy got BARZZZZZ!!!! 4) He keeps it funny.

AVAA (I assume when it comes out) love the droog. I'll say it again; professor, you need to do a deep drive into the lil B rabbit hole. He's cleverly turning the mirror upon ourselves all by just being his based self. If u need a jump off point lemme know

AAVA! I recommend you to listen to Dump YOD: Krutoy Edition, even if you don’t review it (it’s like 4 years old). It showcases most aspects of his Soviet upbringing and background in New York really nicely and cohesively, with many of the songs heavily sampling Russian or Ukrainian traditional music and several skits in Russian. There’s even a song in which YOD raps in Russian for its entire duration, and features verses from Mach Hommy, Black Thought, El-P, Billy woods and many more. In my opinion it is his best work and I implore you to give it a shot.

AVAA!! You should check out the EP from Ugly (UK) called Twice Around The Sun, not only because it’s really good but also I feel it matches up with the beth gibbons album you reviewed, similarly reflecting a pre-national cultural identity of britain

Having a sense of ethics is not the same as guilt. Guilt implies one makes the wrong choice because they feel bad for someone else. Ethics means you try to balance the scales just because it's the right thing to do. AVAA

Big fan of YOD for years but at this point I've heard enough dubious 'throwaway' punchlines from him (like that weirdo "your reign on the top will be short like Hizbollah" his from this new one) to find his confidence annoying. "I make music for Margaret Thatcher" made me almost press delete. His politics are clearly dogshit but he's so nice with it.
