It’s my favorite.. the expanded edition is a must hear for all the extras, I went ahead and got the deluxe version on vinyl and can’t find a dull moment.. would’ve LOVED to have seen them back at that point, the studio singles are all great but really fall flat in comparison to these live performances.

Yes, the My Generation jam on Live at Leeds is up there with live performances by Zeppelin, Floyd and Hendrix as examples of live Rock at its very best, it becomes more than just music but a primal force that puts you in an alternate reality for a time. Awesome stuff!

Live at Leeds is considered one of the best live rock albums, along with Get Your Ya Yas Out (Stones) abd Live at Fillmore West (Allman Bros). When it came to the roughest toughest wildest and hardest Rock band on the face of the planet back then in 1963, the early 60's, The Who was that band! They pioneered a screaming front man, Roger Daltry, who jumped around doing cartwheels & flips & tossing n twirling his mike! Pete Townsend doing cartwheel strumming on his guitar while jumping up & down and Keith Moon pounding wildly on his drums, according to music critics everywhere & the public, The Who was wildest and loudest band around!!! 😎

Live At Leeds is a great record. My buddies and I were still listening to it over a decade after it dropped. "Magic Bus" closes out the record. Side one features several smokin' hot covers -- "Young Man Blues", "Summertime Blues", "Shakin' All Over", along with a bang up version of "Substitute". "Magic Bus" is the title track of the fourth album they released in the US. The cover art featured the band draped around a London double-decker bus painted in day-glo flower power colors ala the Merry Pranksters circa 1968. The album was a US only release and is listed as a compilation today. It also features "Pictures of Lily".

One of the Top 5 live albums by anyone, they were a primal force in rock and this performance is off the charts. You HAVE to hear the My Generation jam that preceded it on Live at Leeds. Pete Townsend at his most intense and forceful, spectacular leads fronting arguably the best rhythm section ever. That album blew our minds back then! To see more from this great era of theirs, they have You Tube video of their shows at Woodstock, Tanglewood and the Isle of Wight Festival, 1969 - 1970, which are all spectacular, chill inducing sets, at their best they are up their with the very greatest bands. Please check them out as time permits, it will be well worth the investment in time, this is some of Rock History at its best and you can see and hear it 50+ years later. Even in this form it is very powerful. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎶

Great reaction. Simply put, The Who are legends! It is my understanding that Magic Bus is a reference to LSD and Ken Kesey, who was one of the main forces behind promoting LSD use in the mid-sixties before it was outlawed. He and his Merry Pranksters traveled cross country in their psychedelic painted out bus called FURTHUR. The Grateful Dead were first to have a song referring to the bus with The Other One. Then, The Beatles wrote Magical Mystery Tour and the Who followed suit with Magic Bus.

This live performance of Magic Bus is great but you should listen to the studio version to get the gist of the song! The Who is one of the best bands to see live sonically and visually. You’re only getting a taste of it here. Roger Daltrey, swinging the mic, Pete Townsend, doing his famous windmill along with his jumps and Keith Moon’s antics on the drum kit! It doesn’t get any better than that! You guys nailed it! They are the quintessential rock band! They were also famous for destroying their equipment on stage. I recommend watching their performance of My Generation on the Smothers Brothers show. Keith Moon rigged his drum kit with explosives allegedly unbeknownst to his band mates. Pete Townsend suffered hearing loss as a result of the stunt. other grade songs include. I can see for miles; Behind Blue Eyes; The Seeker; Going Mobile; Pinball Wizard. Great reaction as always gents, keep them coming… I’m a fan!

The Who was probably the wildest---before there was Robert Plant, there was Roger as the golden-haired lead singer, rock star. And Moon "the Loon" on drums, with Pete Townshend and his windmill guitar strums (that nearly always sliced open his right hand) and his leaps in the air and slides across the stage.
