I have the Deluxe triple lp release from a few years ago. It's not that great, but I love the bonus material. I believe Chad still has the metal from Classic Records, and has been "winking & nodding " for a potential release, so imma gonna wait. 👍

I really want the Classic records cut to compare. Damn expensive on Discogs though.

I've compared the new box set with an original DECA copy and the difference is substantial. On the new mix the bass and low mids seem to fill up all of the air and space and between the instruments on the original. John's bass feel much less focused as a result. Keith's drums thump a bit more, but the whole mix seems bloated. I'll be going back to the original when I want to hear these songs. The concert is what I mainly got the box for and it has been great to hear.

Interesting. Thanks for your review. I only have this reissue and have no other reference. The Classic Records cut is suppose to sound quite decent as well.

@stevewestman7774 Жыл бұрын
@@michaeledwards7668 I do have it. Compared to my old Canadian reissue from years ago. I will take the Abbey Rd one hands down. It just offers a lot more depth and the bass is not over done. For the price it’s well worth it.

Unfortunately, FWIW, and quite surprisingly on my system I've been rather disappointed with the last few 1/2 speed Abbey Road releases that I have acquired. Again, on my system, my early US pressing of Tommy was quite a bit better than the Abbey Road. Also, the recent KISS: Creatures of the Night was less than impressive. So, for me personally I am pausing any more Abbey Road purchases until I hear definitive reviews stating that it is significantly better. FWIW, their mono half speed pressing of Cream: Disraeli Gears is very good! I think though that some of that is due to the mono master simply being superiour to the stereo master used for the US releases. My system is a little unusual because it is comprised of tall multi-driver open baffle line arrays. So, due to that, it strongly favours the image and soundstage. So, in that area particularly, if a remaster or whatever is the least bit 'Manipulated' sounding, the artificiality of the sound comes across very clearly. A good example is the recent Animals remix. Tonally it was amazing and far more detailed than the original. However, again on my system, as clear and delineated and stunning as it sounded, it still came across as not sounding as 'Natural' or 'Organic' to me in the soundstage. The placement and natural ambience just seemed to sound somewhat 'Artificial' as compared to the 1st UK pressing which on my system I personally prefer.

@@stevewestman7774 As I stated in my previous comment, on my system my 1st US pressing blew away the Abbey Road. The Abbey Road was not bad at all, but comparatively, again on my system which is comprised of tall multi-driver open baffle line arrays, which reveal any 'Artificial' manipulation in the soundstage, the 1st US just came across to me as more natural and organic sounding.

I got no problem with a digital sourced record as long as the resolution is high enough, best scenario is pure analog, but oh well! DXD resolution is pretty close to tape, and these engineers are very good!😊

Hey Steve, yes Miles got back to me as well. I asked why two different cuts to which he said if one wants to know they would have to ask Universal....LOL Im kinda bummed as I ordered the 4Lp live box assuming the. 1/2 speed was in there....oh well. I guess I am getting a second copy and will try and sell the one I have from the box. Thanks again for checking on the spot yesterday. Great roundtable. Be good!

Hey Steve what did you think about my comments on your latest round table with mazzy, George and Patrick I'd be interested to know. Also when listening to records especially these new digital records for the most part they all sound really good but when stating how good they do sound it's about what I've said on my channel for 10 years what are you comparing it to?
@stevewestman7774 Жыл бұрын
Hi Ron. Hope all is well. I did read your comments. Thank you so much for your insight. Todays records almost all sound very good. Of course there are exceptions but the process’ used to remaster are that much better and of course the vinyl compounds todays seem to be better as well. But yes the new reissues should be compared to their originals.

If it hasn't got half speed in the dead wax it's not the half speed cut! The one in the box has same dead wax inscription omitting half speed. Wonder if GZ got plates mixed in some cases? Also I think the half speed sounds superior. Anyway I found both suffer from pressing issues. Got a replacement half speed but got a refund on the box. Overall the mix and sound quality on the live concert is not great (though the performance is). I don't think either measure up to a UK first or Classic Records pressing (though don't sound bad).
