This is a classic Lost In Vegas reaction. They know nothing of what's coming in the song, they love it, they pause and restart 50 times. One of the top 5 LIV videos.

They don't love the song or the music. They only love what they can associate OUT of the song to fit what they think. I would imagine that everything they say is repeated ad nauseum for every video.

I love this song and I'm a hardcore Metal Head. And the "Whoooooo are yoooooo, who who whowho" fits in perfectly. This song needs repeated listening to truly appreciate the Who's "who" This song is 46 years old and it still sounds as fresh as the day it was released. RIP Keith Moon and John Entwistle

Coming from a Hip Hop world, your ears are trained to find that dope part, and put it on repeat and leave it going. But rock songwriting from this era was all about dynamics and having contrast. The reason that the verse section you like so much can hit as hard as it does, is because the chorus lulls you into relaxing, before smacking you in the head again. Dynamics, contrast, light and dark, loud and quiet, etc…

I grew up in the 90s/00s listening to my parents' contemporary radio (the slogan was "70s, 80s, 90s, and today") - basically just the pop and AM radio hits with the occasional Marvin Gaye sprinkled in. In my early teens, I discovered rock radio. Then, around 17, I heard Latimore for the first time and it blew the R&B doors wide open for me. So much music that I'd never heard simply because it wasn't played on the 2-3 radio stations my family listened to. Variety is the spice of life and we're all better for it.

At 60 I've listened to and enjoyed this band. At 16 I started playing drums guitar and as a rocker learned snippets of who songs. This piece of work that starts the song was necessary. the Who first and foremost was a Psychedelic Rock band and the arrangement at the end of a song would Segway into the next song. The appeal of the band was seeing if they could play these songs live and ( They delivered) And what crazy stuff they did to the community they performed in. Wrecking hotel rooms in destroying their instruments these guys are crazy. This is the type of band you get when you put four insane musicians in the same room with a tape recorder and LSD. Wow! Cool right? Amazing that some of them are still around . Thanks for your Exploration into rock you are helping to heal the world 🌍

I get what George is saying, I grew up completely 100% into rock, and as a musician, even more so. It was the disco era followed by punk followed by the 80s. As a teen then, if you were into rock it was all you listened to. The dudes I went to Clinton HS in the Bronx with didn’t listen to anything I was listening to. They were two very different worlds musically and I guess socially as well.

The WHO were master songwriters. The tag aka the cornball part is essential. Besides being catchy and becoming its own groove later in the song when combined with a beat and the lead vocals, it creates a sense of tension and contrast to make you yearn for the section you guys love so much aka the fly part. Understand, guys of this caliber are very aware of what they are doing. Love your vids gents! Keep crushing

Since u mentioned R&B... The Who actually started in the 60's as an R&B cover band... It was not until 1965 when guitarist Pete Townshend started writing original songs for The Who (The first Who single was "I can't explain") ... and Roger Daltrey (lead vocals) was the perfect frontman to sing Townshend's lyrics... They took their R&B influences and jacked it up to the max when their maniac drummer Keith Moon joined The Who... It was Townshend's song 'My generation' ...that broke The Who into the big time by 1967. 'Who are you' was the last album recorded by the original Who in 1978... drummer Keith Moon died that year from a prescription OD (he was using the pills to combat his alcoholism) ... The album cover of 'Who are you' was eerie because the band photo showed Keith Moon sitting on a chair w/ the words on it - "Not to be taken away" 😪

Gotta understand that there wasn't much of anything like The Who when they came out. There was definitely some "ease them in and knock em tf out" with their sound. They set records for attendance, loudest concert, and were the first band known to have destroyed their instruments on stage. Keith Moon even detonated, with real deal explosives, his whole drum kit at one event. The explosion sent cybal shrapnel into his arm. Just epic and larger than life

You guys may not have listened to The Who but you definitely have felt their influence in the music you grew up with. Pete Townsend is one of the pioneers of electronic music and that is no Casio synthesizer he is playing but a pre-computer analog synth operated by knobs and switches that took up half of room. Townsend had built his own in his home studio and brought the finished tracks to play for the band to follow in the recording studio. The same guys that worked with Townsend on his synth also worked with Stevie Wonder on all of his best albums from the early 70s. Listen to the synths on 'Very Superstitious' and compare them the synths on this song and you will hear the connections. Townsend's experimentation and understanding of electronics as well as music composition was vital in dialing in and producing a sound so polished that today over 50 years later it still stands the test of time.
