I think he was spot on about how we have this mentality of "gotta keep the machine running" vs "go where the life is" because so many people have to get a paycheck to keep the temple up! Except that C.S. Lewis believed in the Scriptures, and not just as some spiritual book that you can find some deeper humanity in.... Lewis believed in the doctrines of salvation, grace, atonement etc.... Rob Bell is a secular humanist mystic. You can enjoy his teaching but please don't liken him to someone who holds to the fundamental tenets of the faith

(I know I have partly taken him out of context, but all the same there is a tendancy with some teachers to go in this 'progressive' direction) The Lord Jesus Christ: "I will build my Church and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it" .. " if they hated me they shall hate you also". Rob Bell: "your job is to pull the temple down" (deconstructionism, amorphous, let's injure or crucify (no pun intended) clear revelation at the expense of mystery) "the Cosmic Christ energy / consciousness" (gnostic, theosophical nothing newness)... For heaven's sakes folks, there is a form of wisdom and apparent humility, that really, beyond the sincerity and well-meaning of the person inspired by it and delivering it, is nothing other than 'baby out (Jesus) with the bathwater' deception. Of course we should rejoice in goodness, truth, beauty and light wherever it is found in different degrees and wherever in philosophical history, in seed form, it is found... And we know that the Spirit blows wherever He pleases... and we should have true respect and love for one another - despite our possible differing beliefs - this is healthy tolerance. If as Christians we do devoutly believe that there is something absolutely unique about Jesus Christ, we should be completely humble and view ourselves with the utmost soberness, knowing that we are just beggars who are trying to show other beggars where to find real food! - believing and knowing also that Christianity is not a truth that we 'possess' or a principle or mere path or ideal, but a relationship with a Person who said He is the truth itself, and being caught up into His life (partakers of the Divine nature) Who is the fulfilment of all truth and reality and Who Himself comes to dwell within us who are born anew by His Spirit. "and if any man has not the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ; but if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you"..... Christianity is Not, like other philosophical or religious beliefs or practices, merely a self-induced shift in consciousness and perception, a realisation of what we already were, but it is the Gospel message that actual sinners can actually be RELATIONALLY reconciled with an actual transcendent Personal and Holy God Who Is Love Himself - made possible via the recapitulation of all things in the incarnate Son and Word Eternal, Who has - and will have - the last word.

"What, cross, what sin, what gospel?" "Jesus and Bob Marley, both are saying, "Don't worry, be happy!" Wow...love this Bell guy, he makes me so good about being a.lover of self and representing myself as a Christian. Now I can be cool, instead of having awkward conversations about Jesus dying as a substitute for my sins. Why that's child abuse isn't it? Finally finished the video. It was a struggle. Can I say this with all respect. Rob Bell and his followers are akin to modern folk who think they are really smart because they can use technology (make the clicks) but have no idea of the real science and math involved to create the technology. Humility is getting more and more rare in our world. Jesus said that we have to become a child in order to enter into his kingdom. You are all grown up, it seems, Rob Bell. The world just said goodbye to a truly great man who became a child, Billy Graham. Pray-fully-speaking, may the same be said of you some day, Mr Bell, and all of your followers that you are helping to "grow up" into a new spirituality.
