Thank you so much for this! I've seen lots of videos of piercers trashing on it saying it doesn't look nice and it'll probably just reject so it's not worth it. I've been discouraged from it because of those videos. Yours helped me feel better about it! I assume it's somewhat like tattoos. Yes they can get infected or take a while to heal, but as long as your artist is a real professional and you follow their instructions, your piece will heal well. I wanted to get a bridge piercing after getting my septum done because I'm very insecure about my nose. My septum made me feel less insecure and I'm so excited to get a bridge! Especially since I am Hispanic and have aztec heritage, and the bridge and septum piercings were popular in aztec culture, which will make me feel closer to my heritage.

I have a bridge and wear glasses and have had no problems at all. It did take a bit longer than Scott's to heal, I would say probably about a year. I don't think it would have taken that long if it hadn't been for having to downsize a little too soon because the bar was getting caught on everything. It truly was not painful at all (well, beyond the obvious of a needle in the flesh) and I haven't had any issues with rejection, which surprised me a bit given the unfortunate bar-getting-caught incident. I had mine done at Piercology in Columbus, OH (had to shout them out there!) and the girl who did mine used an actual architect's level to get it perfectly straight.

If you haven’t gotten it already get it! I have pretty much the exact same story. I also have Aztec heritage and I just got the septum and the bridge today! For anyone reading this go to a piercer and get it done :)

I've had surface bars in my chest, dermals, septum, snake bites, top and bottom of belly button and this was the last painful and so far the easiest to heal. I was sooooo excited to get this piercing done after YEARS of deliberation. My glasses sit a good distance away from it so they didn’t hit or irritate it at all, they’re a wire rimmed set with larger lenses, the nose piece is a thing little thing that sits low on my nose, Sadly, however, I had to remove it after 3-4 weeks because it sat on a nerve that caused frontal headaches on a daily basis. WITH THAT BEING SAID: I will most definitely be doing it again either higher up or slightly lower than the original pierced spot.

This video helped me confirm that it needs to be changed to a smaller bar asap to prevent further irritation. Thank you for your informative videos!
@erincouncilman62283 жыл бұрын
I discovered that I needed a smaller gauge bar as well as a shorter length bar to keep it from getting irritated. I still haven't figured out what the gauge had to do with anything as it shouldn't affect it getting bumped or caught, but the human body is strange.
@112358miau2 жыл бұрын
@@erincouncilman6228Usually with earlobe I tell people to go a bit thicker. Most women earings go too thin for its weight. Making it thick prevents rejection from weight "cutting" the flesh. If its tension what irritated it changing it to a smaller gauge may or may not help. With a thicker gauge the pressure is spread, the thinner you go the thinner the edge becomes.

In case anyone else likes funky jewelry in theirs, you can get them in the same gauge as a nipple piercing and then use the ends of that jewelry on your bridge's barbell. I do that with mine a lot bc I get bored of the same silver balls all the time. I've had it for 2 years so far and I've managed to find some really cool pieces to decorate the piercing with. My piercer wasn't great tho, she used a curved bar on mine as the initial jewelry and I had to replace it with a straight bar myself so it would heal better. It's been fine ever since.

I've got glasses and a bridge! It's actually not so bad, just wear your glasses slightly below the piercing. You'd have to have your glasses pretty high up on your nose for them to touch anyways. The only issue is that the glasses kinda hide the piercing depending on your frames' shape and color. The only jewelry I wouldn't recommend for that piercing if you have glasses would be long spikes bc thats really the only time they'll touch

@@PiercingWithScott Hey Scott, I have a question about glasses with this piercing. I'm also in love with this piercing and some time ago, I don't remember how or why or anything, but this idea has stuck with me of a bridge piercing where the glasses actually snap onto the piercing and thus no longer requires arms to hook over the ears because you click the glasses onto the piercing, itself. I still find this idea insanely cool so it's stuck with me but, in your expert opinion, how feasible is this? I know it would limit what the jewelry could look like. Basically your only choice at this point would be the kind of metal you use unless you bring a gem just below the piercing/bar to lay flat against the bridge. To give you an idea, it would almost seem like a clamp uhh. Like this, except the "stars"/jewelry would be turned to be flush against the skin. ______ ☆ ☆ Anyway, do you think an idea like this could be realistic? Or would it cause too many problems? I know it could be dangerous if you're someone who likes getting into fights but it would also be a solution for watching TV while laying down lol If you manage to get back to me thank you so much!

If anyone's reading this, don't be afraid of getting this! It looks scary but it's less paiful than an earlobe piercing, and in my case required minimal maintenance. The healing process is quite long, but just cleaning it with saline/water should be fine, just get rid of the crusties. If it looks like it's rejecting/coming out, it might not be the case! Piercers usually put in a longer barbell to account for the swelling. Once it calms down, it will appear longer. Check with the piercer and replace the barbell if that's the case.

I want this but I don’t think I have enough tissue there :( I can hardly pinch skin up there so I doubt there’s enough for a piercing to survive even long enough to heal

I have to pay homage and thank you. I love my bridge. I've been at odds with myself early in my life, so why not just "bridge" the gap?

So I actually have a question for you Scott, if you happen to see this. I just got my bridge done today. The guy who did it has been piercing for over 20 years, so I trust what he has to say. Now, I've worked in a studio before, not as a piercer, but I consider myself well-versed in a lot of the knowledge surrounding practices and procedures in piercing, and the various types. So I was surprised when he pulled out a curved barbell for my bridge piercing. When I questioned him about it, to sum it up, he prefers using curved barbells in bridge piercings because it's a very curved area, so he uses them with the outer side of the curve facing outwards on your face, along with the curve of the bridge of your nose, so as to have less pressure on the piercing, and to avoid the notable bumps you see on the outsides of most bridge piercings. And he told me not to worry, as he has a super high success rate with the curved barbells in the bridge piercings he performs. Like I said, he's been piercing for over 20 years, and he says his bridge piercing success rate is very high, so I trust him when he says these things. But what you said in this video is the knowledge I've always had about this piercing. So do you think I should go back and ask him for a straight barbell once it's finished healing? What he says about the curve of the barbell following the curve of your bridge allowing for less pressure makes sense in my head when I think about it, but I've just never heard of that.

I don't know much about drilling. 3 days ago I put the bridge, my driller recommended me to use the straight piece, since it heals much faster, if a curve is used the healing process will be slow, in addition to that it will heal badly because a curved bar is used. I'm sorry if I wasn't very helpful, I'm using the translator. :)

i think you should go to another piercer for your bridge :/ if the piece of jewelry that fits most naturally is a curved barbell, it's bc you're not piercing enough tissue. the bar should be deep enough inside your skin for the straight barbell to be perpendicular to the tissue.( I'm not a professional but I've had my bridge pierced for many years ^^)

My body always rejects piercings when I use metal or surgical steel jewelry in them. Can I use a plastic barbell as they heal better?

Hey Scott! I have a bridge piercing since 2,5 years now. Never had big issues with it, sometimes it's a little bit soar and I treat it with saltwater but since a bit over a month now I keep getting this pimple over the one site. It doesn't seem like it's connected but at this point I think so. The pimple went away, came back on the other site, left again and now since this morning it's back again. It's big, white and when I move my eyebrows I can feel that my bridge is soar. Do you know if there's anything I can do to prevent it from coming back again? Teatree oil with water on it and antiseptic ointment I use every day.

Do not use tea tree oil please!! Best bet is cleaning with saline solution once a day and if nothing improves, try just leaving it alone. Tea tree oil is not good for piercings, even if it works for some people.

If you could a big enough clicker or something that looked like a ring but with a flat side for insertion, could you use that after it's healed? I like the look of a ring, but don't want to irritate it and cause it to reject.

I just got this done a few days ago and the initial bar is too small so im off to the piercer today to get a longer one in. It's so cool looking and I was shocked at how little it hurt, it feels weird to get done more than anything and then just a slight bruised feeling if you touch the area while cleaning or raise your brows lol If you're a side sleeper, I def suggest sticking a cotton ball between the piercing and your eye while you sleep, the drainage got in my eye and now its swollen lmao! at least thats my running theory. Highly rec this piercing, so cool and easy to get done!

I got a curved barbell and i have had mine for three months and doing well. I think the piercer at the time didn’t have a straight barbell that was long enough specifically for my nose, but he had ones to fit my friend who came with me which fit most people. (they didn’t pierced him the piercer was comparing his bridge to mine) the only other straight ones they had were tongue barbells and that’s way too big. I haven’t had issues with mine so I guess I’m lucky.
