Really enjoyed the wide variety of planes at the RIAT this year, so much to feast our eyes and ears on. We consumed plenty of fast, loud flybys! Such a fun weekend.

the escort is for 2 reasons over seas at airshows, 1. the tower radar cant see it coming so the F-15s are there for the tower to track its position 2. if someone did take a shot at it the F-15s can help with ir decoys, ecm, and also attacking the threat.
@Alucard-gt1zf5 жыл бұрын

Alucard It takes one asshole with an RPG standing in the woods when they’re flying that low and slow to ruin a $2,000,000,000 aircraft. And these flights are going miles around. How well do you think the tower can really see a jet from miles out? They also have to track other flights as well. Not just the militaries so it’s a good idea to keep an eye on the radar scopes. 😐😐😐😐

What a hell of a show this must have been. The last airshow I saw was at Davis-Mothan AFB just a few miles from my home here in Tucson, AZ, USA a few years ago. Featured flyers included the Airforce Thunderbirds, with a few routines done by a F-22 Raptor, the local A-10 guys, and some vintage warbirds. But, man, this video is a airplane buff's wet dream. Compared to this, the events were barnyard petting zoos. These Brits sure know how to put on a truly International airshow. Other than Farnborough or the Paris airshow, something famous like that, I'd never seen such an amazing diversity of civilian and military aircraft like this. Thanks for all this great coverage granny... Great fun watching and wishing.

Excellent footage there bobsurgranny. Enjoyed every bit. Yes that B-2 does look very alien but for me the star of those interesting ten minutes was four Rolls Royce Merlin powered.. The Lanc. The skies of Gloucestershire has for most of the last century always had interesting AirCraft overhead. As a very small boy in the early 1950s, I heard my first sonic double BOOM directly over the City Centre where I lived. My older relatives long since gone worked at "The GAC" ~ Gloster Aircraft Company and actually lived in a big house at the edge of Brockworth Aerodrome close to the factory hangers where Javelins were being prepared for their maiden flight. Nine year old me and my six year old brother explored the more remote parts of the airfield where a ramshackle metal Barn was located. One or two of the large sheets of metal panels had worked loose so we explored inside. There inside that old tin barn was a pristine Gloster Gladiator. Watching newly outshopped Javelins warming their engines prior to take off lasted ages. Then they were gone. The scorched earth location had ruts and deep cracks in it your legs could easily slip down and get trapped. On another visit to our relatives, that little old BiPlane was being readied to appear at an Air Show. It took off and the pilot really threw it about directly overhead for several minutes practicing his show routine I guess. Then flew away South. Two little boys had their own little private Airshow. Great days gone forever but those memories live on. I drove across what little remains of GAC this afternoon. LIttle sign of any airfield except for the street names. Now massive Industrial Units and high density housing cover most of the area where both AirCraft and rare butterflies also flew.
