The Original title for this was "Cowboys for Christ" and it was changed to "The Wicker Tree" pre prodduction.

I agree and in fact if it weren't for Robin Hardy directing and Christopher Lee appearing I probably wouldn't even give this one a chance. Besides it surely can't be worse than that abortion of a remake they did in 06. I purchased the OST to the original 73 version and boy is it hypnotizing. I loved what Giovanni did.

I hope the film company that release this movie gives it the decency that the first and the remake of the Wicker Man was never given. Being a pagan myself, I was downright heartbroken when I found out the first version of the Wicker Man had some scenes that were either incomplete or ripped out entirely against the director's wishes.

to me, the trailer was better than the movie itself. I will admit that I thought the movie was okay. but I think that my expectations were too high for it. the music was good though.

This one's okay. Not as good as the original, but nowhere near as bad as the Cage film. I guess The Wicker Man was simply not meant to have a sequel, spiritually speaking or not... But then again, it's 10 times better than the original proposal for Wicker Man 2, which, from what I read, Shaffer wrote himself, and planned to have Howie cheat death, and return to the island to get revenge on Summerisle... I hope that's not true, but it's what I heard, and I'm glad they never did that.

The film issues are mitigated by the excellent songs, but the musical score is from another age. I can only agree that overall the film is disappointing against high expectations. Tintash

clearly, none of you get hardy. It's a black comedy. great film, even better soundtrack than the original. It's not a remake, it's a companion piece. Also note; read between the lines. It's thanks to Sir Lachlan MORRISON (Rowan?) that these people can't have children because of his Nuada nuclear plant in Tressock. He has the whole community convinced it's because of fertility rites & norse gods. It's actually a pretty decent film if you have half a brain cell to work it out ;)

Wow, I've rarely seen such an arrogant and shit filled comment such as yours. Ever hear of "subjectivity"? It's kind of the whole basis for artistic products such as music and FILM. Claiming that intelligence has something to do with one's enjoyment of a movie is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard, and is the gutter realm of insecure people and Nolan fanboys who have to try to elevate their own ego above others by making up rules that don't exist. People are allowed to like or dislike as they please, and no one person's opinion is more valid than another's. If you enjoy the film then great, but take your gatekeeping bullshit elsewhere.

haven't seen it but will be hard to replicate without the late Paul Giovanni bril liant musical score
