@@MalikM-VGM-Rand can confirm, the Wii U is already a retro gaming BEAST even just taking official releases into account. With homebrew though, you can play just about every Nintendo game up to that point excluding 3DS, along with many other systems through RetroArch or custom Virtual Console games. Not to mention, the homebrew process is super straightforward as well compared to a lot of other consoles! It's been a hot minute since I softmodded my Wii U though, so I'm not gonna risk posting outdated instructions here, but the steps to do so are just a quick Google search away.

It was preatty good. Sadly, the WIi U gamepad was a huge waste of ressources regarding what it was capable of. I mean, the gamepad was responsible for about 2/3 of the Wii Us cost and that is including the cabels and power adapters etc. The WIi U would have been way more popular and in general bettrer if they ditched that damn gamepad. 130 dollar Wii U would have been easily possible, millions more would have bought it and it would have gotten way more games and Nintendo would probably also have way more franchsies since this was their new experimenting face back then.

Interesting note- The Prime Trilogy is not available in the Japanese VC shop, mainly due to never being released in Japan. Instead, you would have to physically hunt down the physical copies of each game. Surprisingly, 1 and 2 were ported separately on the wii with updated graphic and controls.

I really like 'all in one' solutions for playing games. That said, I'm still using my far more convoluted setup to play most of my physical copies. Wii for Prime 1/2/3 (GC versions of 1 and 2), 3DS for SR, DS Lite for Fusion and ZM. I have SM physical as well but (along with 2) I went the VC route on my 3DS for those. Technically can't play the original directly but I have ZM for that!

If you had a 3DS before the price drop back in the day, Nintendo did this thing called the "Ambassador Program." In the program, they gave you free NES games and 6 GBA games on the 3DS. The GBA games were F-Zero Maximum Velocity, Metroid Fusion, Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, Minish Cap, Wario Land 4, Wario Ware Mega Micro Game$, and Fire Emblem the Sacred Stones (I forget the name of the game). What I am getting at is that you can officially play Metroid Fusion on 3DS is you bought one before the price drop. Check your 3DS redownloadable software if you were an early purchaser! If you formatted or sold that 3DS before you could link a Nintendo Account to the system, you sadly won't have it anymore. You cannot buy these games on the 3DS either, as they were only for people who purchased a 3DS before the price cut.

I’m so conflicted about getting the Metroid prime trilogy since while it has been said that porting it to switch is very difficult and unlikely, it would still be weird for them to release Metroid prime 4 five years from now and not have the previous titles easily accessible at that time; porting it is just good business, but I don’t know when or if that will happen and I’m afraid of playing them only for an enhanced version to be announced the very next year. However, now that I think about it, looking at recent ports has shown me that things won’t be too different, so I guess there’s that.

It's only $20 on Wii U online. Just make sure you have a nintendo network ID so you can log in on eshop. Nintendo will NOT allow you to create a new nnid anymore, but you can still use an old nnid. I was lucky to play Super Metriod and Zero Mission few years ago. Even replayed the Prime games, but this time starting over with the trilogy collection. Also got Hunters on Wii U, while thanks to the 3DS, played Samus returns, got Federation force in case and Pinball. Only game I haven't played yet is Fusion, which I was waiting on a remake, but since that won't thanks to Dread, I got the game on a special gameboy advance knock off that actually let's you play gameboy cartridges as well as down load nearly more than a 100 games (GBA, Gameboy color, even NES games)

@@kirbykirb9197 A firmware is the Software that‘s running on your 3DS System. The one that gets updates sometimes. The default one from Nintendo. Custom Firmware is a modified fan made version of that software that you can install. It‘s got no restrictions like the original one. You can do all kinds of stuff with that. :)

Other M is actually a good game. Most complaints people ledge against it involve cut-scenes, characterization of the avatar in the cut-scenes. I personally don't find the little clips of video to be that important. The game was good, one of my favorites, one of the best Metroid games and one of the best Wii games.

I literally homebrew my wii u and got nusspli(idk spelling) like 10-15 minutes ago. Just downloaded a DS game on it. It feels so great I can get any wii u game I want and even the wii games. I need to see for GameCube games. I even have the new 3ds XL and that’s homebrew and has the freeshop. Can literally get any 3ds, ds, gba, etc. games. Now I gotta wait for a few years until Nintendo stop online for the Nintendo switch any everything so I can homebrew that as well and get any game I want lol

Came into the Metroid series with Prime on GameCube, only now playing through Fusion for the first time (I haave almost all the others to play through for 1st time too!) and I love these games. Really enjoying Fusion, it's a great game! Can already say 8 bucks is a steal for these games. Thoroughly engrossing games. Game quality wise they are up there with the likes of Mario and Zelda in spite of being completely different games. Waiting on the Switch Pro (please) but my first Switch game will be Metroid Dread. It'll kill me if Dread comes out and the Switch Pro ain't announced yet lol! It's coming, I just hope it isn't too long of a lag.
