Man, this band. Like, look at how many parts there are to this absolute masterpiece. You listen to it and it's a catchy as hell rock thumper. But once you sit down and go through each part, you really start to see and understand the sheer genius behind the writing of it. I've been trying to learn some Wildhearts tunes, some of them are just phenomenally tricky! These guys are on a whole other level. Remember the story of Wyld Stallyns in Bill & Ted? and how they weren't fully appreciated in their own time? Well as much as The Wildhearts are loved by so so many of us, they should be monster big. Like bigger than Foo Fighters or QOTSA big. They fucking deserve it on sheer quality of music alone. Needless to say, I fucking love the Wildhearts. Wildheart forever.

Bill : Ted, while I agree that, in time, our band will be most triumphant. The truth is, Wyld Stallyns will never be a super band until we have Eddie Van Halen on guitar. Ted : Yes, Bill. But, I do not believe we will get Eddie Van Halen until we have a triumphant video. Bill : Ted, it's pointless to have a triumphant video before we even have decent instruments. Ted : Well, how can we have decent instruments when we don't really even know how to play? Bill : That is why we NEED Eddie Van Halen! Ted : And THAT is why we need a triumphant video. Bill , Ted : EXCELLENT!

I recall hearing this song for the first time ever at the Krazy House in Liverpool in 1992 when The Wildhearts were supporting Love/Hate and the longer the song continued the bigger my grin got - I have no recollection of watching the headliners but by the same time the following year I'd seen The Wildhearts live another five times, it was one of the best years of my life 😎

Thanks so much CJ! This is all my all-time favourite song and something I've been noodling away on my guitar since I was 18 trying to learn. 24 years later I now realise I've been playing it wrong ;). Cracking tune - love it! Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to hear those opening notes live again one day soon

Isn't it crazy how much thought goes into a Wildhearts song? Ginger will never get the credit he deserves as a songwriter. CJ is one of my all time Favourite guitarists too. Everything is for the taste and betterment of the song. Nothing where it shouldn't be. They are miles ahead of everyone. They were way head of the pack in the 90's. Look at the songs they were releasing that decade! AA decade where there was problems with addiction etc also. But look at the re release of the PHUQ album. It's got fishing for Luckies (a fanclub only release at the time it initially came out!) mixed with the PHUQ as we knew it. This was before SP released Mellon Collie, and were revered for it. If you ask me, (and no one is!) but the original plan for PHUQ is even better. Sheer genius. And hey, i know they have their issues and like most relationships, they are not always gonna get along. But as long as Ginger is writing the songs, I'll always listen. I would just really love the line up with CJ and Ritch and Danny (or Scott, or Jon really!) to tour again and most of all, just be cool with each other. They deserve the world for what they've given us down the years!

Don't be Happy was the best Wildhearts Album. A band's early years are always the best.... No thought goes into it. Love this 'Album' / EP. Bam was amazing. Got a feeling he was probably bad live

One of the keys to good songwriting is constantly listening to music.... 16 hours a day. New bands. New music. The other key is taking mind-altering drugs like LSD and living life like you've never lived it. Music is a story about the journey. If a songwriter goes on a life journey where they experience new things then the music will come to them. If the songwriter stops journeying then they will eventually start looking for the music. They won't find what they are looking for. Thi EP had the magic. It was about making sense of the world around them. Pure Journey.
