I loved and still do, this movie! It will be fifty years next month. The Eastfield Mall in Springfield, MA now longer exists. So there is some sad reality mixed witht the fantasy of the film. A fifty-year crush on Gene Wilder as Willy Wonka, great staying power!

Gene's going off on Peter at the end of the movie for him and Grandpa drinking the fizzy lifting drinks was also kept secret because they wanted a genuine reaction from Peter. I believe this was Gene's idea rather than Mel's.

Here in Europe this movie from ´71 must had made ROALD DAHL commonly famous because his translated books and short story collections even became from then on in the Seventies School Book material and I had even two of those privately at home in those days

When I went to my very first celebrity show in Boston I was disappointed, I saw the movie Willy Wonka they were all kids, and my child days programs were Lassie with Jon Provost, the Courtship of Eddie's Father with Brandon Cruz and so on, well when I got there who was all these old people where are all the kids. In my mine I was looking for what I saw on TV, Kids LOL
