Thanks for watching this movie ! I have been waiting for a couple years for someone to review this one ! saw this in theaters when it first came to theaters and been a fan of this one. It plays like great action movie from classic Hollywood of the 30's,40''s and 50's.

Any film starring the legendary Sean Connery is always a great watch. Enjoyed this Larissa. 😂

If you like that actress, then you should watch her in the movie The Sand Pebble. She was great in that movie with Steve McQueens.

This movie is one of my guilty pleasures. So glad you reviewed this one. Your fellow reviewer’s pick the same movies and all if them have been made after 1990. Boring. May I suggest a movie to review? Tea With Mussolini. I think you might like it.

This movie was a commentary on American imperialism in the early 20th century

Sort of I guess. It's hard to say since America never had an empire, and this story is fictional. We're here to see Sean Connery and here the soundtrack. On a side note, the Marines come out looking good in this tale.

The film is essentially a love letter to American Imperialism and "Gunboat Diplomacy" circa 1904. Without the history, it's loosely a romance picture, but just barely. The film is about kidnapped Americans and the US President using it for a coming election. The President himself is quite the character, but without any knowledge of how colorful the man actually was, just so much of it is over your head. The picture's heart is the scene you found most boring. The men with cigars discussing their plans to capture the Bashar in his palace. What nails the scene are these devil may care men choosing the ends justifying the means, and literally willing to risk people dying over it. They fear that if they fail they'll be killed and world might go to war. They ponder a World at War. "Now that would be something to go out in." This is ten years before the First World War. Their naivete and wonder at the thought is the heart - the United States' beginning to stand on it's feet as a world power. Brash, confident, violent. And all this from an uncritical eye - it doesn't judge. Marines fix bayonets and confidently march thru town, past European consulates, form up in front of the palace, and promptly attack and overwhelm and slaughter the palace guard. "Captain Jerome, You are a very dangerous man and your President Roosevelt is mad." "Yes, sir!" Beyond the historical aspects, the film is wonderfully shot, well acted, and despite Sean Connery as a Berber being quite the reach, he has great charisma and he and Bergen play well off of each other. There's great action pieces and it's notable the tall gray haired man talking with President Roosevelt - is renowned film director John Huston. Director of very notable films, "The Treasure of Sierra Madre," "The Maltese Falcon," "Moby Dick," and "The Man Who Would Be King." All are masterworks of cinema and story telling.

Ahh very good Cultural appropriation Movie but you know people are far too so called Politically Correct these days , movies and show are Simply Plays to amuse, inform people . Whenever we step out our front door we are acting 🎭 Whenever we wake up in the morning we are acting 🎭 Throughout our lives we do a plethora of Acting 🎭 and theatre activities eg : put on make-up , shower 🚿 put clothes on 👕👖👚🥼👒🎩🩴🩴👟👟🥿🥿 the movie is good but not the best . Oh nooo you never saw a James Bond Film 007 Please Larissa watch at least 1 Bond film whilst not all are excellent all except for one film of which isn't cannon Casino Royal 1967 which is a spoof Bond film with famous actors it good but weird . The rest of the Bond films in my humble opinion are all technically superb . Anyway thank you for the movie reaction
