Hey trev I would like to explain what flaps do flaps are ment to slow the plane down but also increase the surface area of the wings this is important because this means the plane can fly slower without falling out of the sky. We just learned if you need to takeoff fast go flaps full not all up. Also if you are slowing to to much increase throttle that’s why big jetliners are using 70-80 percentage of thrust at the final approaches stage of flight. Like so trever sees.

Hi Trev, I have a tip for you. When you're going to stall or are stalling, you actually want your flaps down, because they increase lift.

The two bars you see on the big runways arw called "aiming point", that's where pilots aim to touch down, and that's why the blu box is always there

Hey Trev! Real life pilot here. Try the wing low technique. This is where you kick the rudder the opposite direction of the wind while simultaneously turning the ailerons into the wind. It sounds complicated but it works. Loving the vids!

Fun fact about the Gibraltar airport: Gibraltar is connected to Spain but is owned by the UK. Making air traffic control more complicated. The runway also has a road running directly across it that has to be shut down every time a landing or take off occurs. And the rock of Gibraltar creates ridiculous winds

When pilots land in that condition they use their rudder and do something called crabbing where they fly the plane diagonally in the direction of the wind.

Idk what you have been smokin but checking your comments is something most youtubers do even though all should because when they dont it feels like they are just acting like they are to good to to talk to us but the ones that do if they dont know something then they usually turn to the comments for the answer or something close but checking comments are not the equivalent of using cheat codes especially when it has to do with the controls of the game.

Hi Trev, I noticed when you were landing you were coming in very high. Just something to help you with that would be looking at the lights off to either the left or right of the runway called the PAPI lights. You always want 2 reds and 2 whites if you have 3 or 4 whites your to high is you have 3 or 4 reds you're to low. The best way to remember this is White on White Check your height, red on red means your dead. Just wanted to try to help you improve your landings. Keep up the good content!!

@TmarTn2 Use the visual approach slope indicator (VASI) lights on the runways that have it. Its a set of 4 horizontal lights that indicate the ideal landing slope. 4 white light = your too high; 2 white 2 red = perfect altitude; 4 red lights = your too low
@Conjay3
@Conjay3 3 жыл бұрын
Trevor the 2 sets of lights on the runway that are 4 across tell you if you’re too high or low. Perfect height is when one set shows 2 red and 2 white lights next to each other, too high would be all white and too low is all red lights!

Love this series, and this video in particular, was hoping you would try a landing where I live. I can tell you a lot of pilots struggle with this, and you end up having to get a coach from Málaga (Spain) to get home when they give up. A lot of the crosswinds hit you as you get closer to the rock. What also makes it interesting, is the road about halfway down the runway. Obviously they stop the traffic and pedestrians, but it makes it an unusual runway.

Trevor - Xwind landings require crabbing which is challenging, full flaps in some scenarios are going to make it more difficult... and keep the plane in ground effect longer. Lookup some videos of commercial landings, some are just wild and scary. You might want to get a TrackIR device which makes looking around in the cockpit much easier - it does require some tuning to get the movement right for you, look it up. Your FLTSIM videos are funny and entertaining - Thanks :) Some suggestions for future flights: - Rio, Grand Canyon, Seattle and the Olympic Peninsula Mtns, Lake Tahoe, San Fran, Mexico City Ruins, Jamaica, Wash DC, Surfers Paradise (Australia), Taj Mahal, Shanghai China, Bahamas Islands, France (Eiffel tower area)

On crosswind landings you kinda have to flip your process when landing, the faster the better, given if the runway is long enough, you wanna come in faster than normal than with less flaps, helps the wind not mess with you as much, give your self as long as possible to get aligned with the runway on final approach, use your rudder to align your nose, the wings will want to turn in that direction so you must combat that with yoke in the other direction, you will be tilted, this is normal, this technique is called a side slip or “dropping the wing” On landing you’ll want to keep that correction on the rudder and yoke, biggest mistake with new pilots on crosswind is that they let go of the controls after landing, the wind is still blowing on the ground so keep on correcting until you’re stopped. Hopefully this helps!

Hey buddy, those big bright lights on the runway are there for a reason! If they are a white line it means you are too high, green meens you are on target and red is too low. Use those light lines to set your altitude right and the landing speed of your A380 is 150 knots, it said so in the loading screen. Gears down 3 notches of flaps and you are good to go!
