I know it is a painstaking and time-consuming process, but the stonework looks great. You would never know it wasn’t built like that from the start.

Well, I have to say that Tilly is the first dog I’ve heard of having an obsession with getting in a wheel barrow. That would be something to see I think. You noticed your chickens knew about the eagle flying over, but your cats probably hid as well. Windows are looking good

Or you could get a gosling that once full grown will be a protector for the chickens. The raptors won’t mess with a goose.

As always, how you can see such beauty in the stone walls and the holes in the walls and turn them into windows and doorways. So beautiful.

Throughly enjoyed the video, as I do all your videos. Windows look magnificent. Must be a great feeling having those holes filled in. Just remember that one used to be a doorway so I imagine it will be alot warmer this winter.

We're surprised at the difference it has made already. Much more than expected.

I myself have never done stone work, but I have watched alot of others doing it, and one thing I notice is so important to have a flat edge where you are butting up against a door or window frame, and yet some consistant space for pointing is necessary too. The inside of a stone where we dont see doesnt seem to matter at all. I am sure you will get it right, if you just hang in there as you have already been doing.

lol, thanks. I usually get it right but still learning, even after over 30 years of practise :)

Hi Andy, just an idea for you with the upcoming huge amount of pointing, an appliance to attach to your drill for grouting is available on Amazon.This will save you a lot of time and probably muscle pain. Hope to help and keep up the good work. Cheers Frank from Holland.

@FincaLife2 ай бұрын
Very few almonds this year as the rain came a bit late. No olives either for the second year on the run. Hopefully it will be a better harvest next year. The price of olive oil has doubled this year!

Why did you not put a larger window in to give more natural light?
@FincaLife2 ай бұрын
To keep the original character of the building plus under the terms of our restoration project we must retain the original dimensions of the building
@davidstoddard91602 ай бұрын
Wondering why you dont just put a metal or plastic conduit for the internet wire to go thur, and if you put it on the side, where the wire was you can just leave it or move it later, and if you leave an indent on the conduit you can just point over the conduit and not have to ever take it out.
@stephengrimmer352 ай бұрын
Seriously guys, I wouldn't use the window frame (especially pine) to support anything, even a few stones. Insert a stressed concrete lintel, then hide it with a NEW olive wood beams, build it around a ply box to frame dimensions, THEN fit the window. Next time eh?
@FincaLife2 ай бұрын
How to say 'I know nothing about traditional building techniques' without saying 'I know nothing about traditional building techniques' This place has been here for over 150 years without any of your concrete (stressed or otherwise) and the supporting lintels are almond, not the window frame. It's been rebuilt as per the original and now will be good for another 150 years, eh?
